    A DILAPIDATED BOAT! Prestigious

I've been lurking on this thread for the CM Punk stuff, and it's probably because the abundance of pro wrestling fans in here but I really do appreciate the lack of "fuck that fake wrestling shit" talk that you see in other internet MMA fan conversations about Punk in UFC. It's kind of refreshing.

So nobody actually saw Reem tap right? He was delusional. I know Joe after was pretty disappointed he has to interview concussed fighters

I always respect someone taking a chance and going after their dream. Reminded me of Jarryd Hayne who left rugby as best player in the world to chase his dream of NFL with no experience and made the 49ers team

I saw a gif of the "tap" and it was very strange how Stipe was flailing his arms. The weirdest part though was that he wasn't actually tapping on Reem's arm, so unless Alistair saw it out of the corner of his eye, I'm not sure how he was even aware that was happening. I don't know. I don't believe that was a tap, but it was strange either way.

Travis Browne just rubs me the wrong way. Even when things aren't necessarily his fault, he just seems to draw in controversy and strange things.

He beat Gonzaga with the standing elbows which were about as close to being illegal 12-6 elbows as you can get, landing several to the base of his skull. He curls up into a ball for over a minute letting Overeem hit him without the fight getting stopped, by some miracle, then wins when Overeems gasses himself out. He makes 1,000 excuses about being injured against Werdum even though the broken rib was a result of Werdum's kicks (lol). He pokes Mittrione in the eye MULTIPLE times, then breaks his orbital bone on the same eye because Matt couldn't see. Then he bullies a reporter after the fight for asking about the fight being controversial.

I was not surprised in the least to see him fucking call time out because he injured his hand when the fight should have been stopped. Antonio dos Santos and Yancy Medeiros are two examples of fights that got stopped due to a dislocated thumb, yet Browne gets to call time out and gets made when Werdum keeps hitting him.

The guy is probably my least favorite fighter behind Palhares.

Yeah, the ref totally dropped the ball on that one. Can't blame Travis for calling a timeout (I'm sure I'd do the same if my finger got jacked like that in a fight), but the ref should have just ended it. Completely unacceptable in terms of the rules and the safety of Travis in general.

Can't say I've ever been a fan of Travis' antics, but even worse is Tarverdyan. I wrote off Rousey's mother's comments on him as a personal thing, but after seeing that his weekend, I see that she wasn't off base on it.

Gall just gets the game in terms of being a personality. I hope CM Punk fights again (maybe not in the UFC) against more evenly matched competition (there's a real good marketing opportunity for the UFC there, but that's another conversation). Give me Dos Santos v Werdum and Cain v Stipe.

I also agree that Edmund is much worse, but it made so much sense to me that those two paired up lol just makes it easier for me to dislike them altogether. ha.

But yeah, Gall has gotten to where he's at by playing it perfectly. Sold himself like crazy and then backed up everything he's said he was going to do. Really, Punk didn't look nearly as bad as I thought he would even though it was almost completely a grappling match. He was very obviously outmatched and out-experienced, but he at least was keeping a clear head and doing some good things to try to escape. He just looked like he was majorly overpowered more than anything. He wasn't Brock Lesnar, but he wasn't James Toney either. haha.

I'll give it Punk, he at least took it seriously, something Toney didn't do. Gall v Northcutt is the way to go man.

Funny story: Yesterday at my work's tailgate party for college football, the game ended and this guy flipped the channel to the fights. Never expected this guy to be into MMA at all, so I asked him about it, and he said that his friend was fighting in the main event. Didn't really put it together that he was the same age and went to the same high school as Michael Johnson.

Literally minutes before the fight, he ended up convincing two or three drunk guys to put down $100 on Johnson winning by stoppage before round 3. It was a pretty magical thing to witness.
