Right, I think it's personal but at the same time....he's got a win over the guy already. haha. I just mean I don't know what he's trying to prove since he's already shown he can beat him by KO in the first round, I guess. But if that's his mentality, then I guess I can't argue with him. Agreed (with both posts). He either leaves the division in a weird spot by beating Stipe and retiring, he goes out on a loss to Stipe or he keeps defending for some unknown reason. None are very ideal scenarios. This always happens with guys near retirement though. They keep racking up losses trying to get that "last win" before they call it quits. Then if they GET a win, they think "Hey I still got it! Let's keep going."
Because he was winning the last fight until he didn't, I get it too. But it definitely feels like it's an emotionally based decision either way, when this guy was talking retirement a year ago being proud of what he's done.
Right, I guess that's more of my point of view. He was already content with retirement two fights ago and here is trying to get back fights he's lost since then...and to a guy he's already beaten, no less.
Seen a few things today that the winner of Reyes/Weidman will get Jones at the end of the year. Also looks like Stipe is out for awhile with an eye injury.
I'm hearing Usman/Colby is close to getting done for Dec 14 so I don't think Jones will be fighting until next year.
yep just seen that! Kinda hope they don’t headline haha. They’ve let smaller weight classes headline over bigger ones before. still think Max is the biggest draw out of all the title fights
Yeah I almost think it should be Max > Amanda > Usman/Colby. Probably be the two mens fights and then the womens though.
I’m surprised they didn’t add Yair vs Stephens to the MSG card. 244 only has 9 fights from what I’ve seen.
Lot of good action this weekend. UFC with a solid main card tomorrow and Bellator has good events going this weekend.
Honestly most excited to watch Khalil Rountree over everyone. His last fight with Anders was super entertaining and he looked like a new man with a huge gas tank to burn.
Brazilian Cowboy, Saint Preux, Roundtree, Gunny too. What a lowkey solid card. Want to see how Madsen looks. High, high level wrestler giving MMA a go on the big show.
I could be misremembering this whole thing because it was like 10 years ago, but didn't he say something along the lines of "I need weed to keep me from beating my children"? They were definitely in the right to punish him for that. I'm pretty sure he didn't even attempt to apologize or make a statement or anything, he just doubled down on how the UFC was wrong for letting him go so of course Dana is going to defend his decision when you come at him like that.
“I've been smoking weed since I was 13 and look at me,” Riddle said on “The Verbal Submission” (via MMA Mania). “I'm in the UFC and I smash people with a smile on my face. It's not a performance-enhancing drug. It makes me relax. It makes me happy. Honestly, it probably keeps me from beating my three kids because they're always screaming and crying at me and my wife's crazy and you know what life's like. It's hard sometimes and honestly, I like to go to my game room and rip a tube and just sit back and relax and enjoy a 20-minute show, go out, see my family, take care of everything I have to take care of, and that's what I do. A lot of people think it's okay to drink a fifth of jack and beat their wife. I don't." yeah pretty much. also doesn’t help that some of those wins were turned into no contests because he tested for marijuana (which is stupid af but it is what it is)
