I don’t really have a problem with Cyborg being let go. I have no doubt the organization did it for all the wrong reasons but, nonsense aside, who is she going to fight? I don’t think the Nunes rematch needed to happen (Amanda torched her), but even if it were booked, what’s next? 145 is suffering from the same problem now as it always has. There simply aren’t enough high level women in the weight class. I fully expect the UFC to close the division by the end of 2020, if not sooner.
I like Cyborg a lot. I still find her to be more impressive than Nunes. Outside of her being a two-division champ and being the first woman to TKO Cyborg, there really hasn’t been a fight I didn’t honestly think she wasn’t going to win over the past few years that’s been given to her outside of the Cyborg fight. -Tate had one foot out the door already. -Rousey had no business being in the cage with her. -Love Holly, but clearly not as quick or comfortable in there as she used to be. -Pennington shouldn’t have been there with her. Came off a two year layoff and I was surprised she even lasted as long as she did. Definitely give her credit for two wins over Valentina, but she got her money’s worth in that second fight against a normally 125er. Cyborg on the other hand, is a former 3 promotion featherweight champ, she has awards/medals in wrestling/JJ/MT as well as honorary MMA world awards. In a nutshell, she starched any woman that stood across from her for 13 years until her fight with Nunes. She deserved the rematch. A first minute knockout is amazing to watch live and a huge feat for her, but not a definitive stamp for me that Nunes is the superior fighter overall. Dana sure loves calling her that though and never commenting on Cyborg’s accomplishments.
Anytime I see Cyborg in the news these days its her complaining, whether it's warranted or not idk. Fucking can't wait to see Colby get his face crushed in
I wish I could fucking watch. No ESPN access at work. Kinda hate that having ESPN+ doesn't give me access to these cards.
I’m honestly not sure, but I feel like a lot of refs that have worked for the UFC have also worked in other states for different promotions/events.
