For a broken nose? Strewth. I know most footy players play the next week with a broken nose. Although I understand concussion protocol and they're not getting punched there. But I would've though 2months was fine
I knew it would be bad since he wasn't "out" from that knee and was quitting because of pain, but that is insane. Wonder how long of a medical suspension that is.
Really scary to look at. I don't know that he was even actually knocked out from that hit. His reaction and fall to the floor seemed to be from the immediate feeling of pain he had and knew it was bad. Michael Page is an excellent striker, I just wish he'd dial down the showboating.
Kudos to Bellator for covering the dude's medical costs & for giving him his win bonus on top of that. Of course, the fighters should unionize and this kind of stuff shouldn't be left up to the whims of Coker and White, but whatever. I love watching MVP fight. Best reason to tune into Bellator at this point.
Jose Aldo says he had a spy watching Frankie Edgar's training, which is why he held off on the leg kicks and the left hand, because he knew Frankie was training to counter those. It seems really strange to openly boast about having Brazilians spy on your opponents. I can't imagine the UFC is thrilled, either. That kind of stuff is frowned upon in most sports. Source
MMA is in such shambles right now. At least Cain Velasquez seems to be healthy again. I'll never not watch a Cain fight.
Rumor has it Ronda has a little Ronda on the way. Looks like we will wait a bit for her to re take the title. I'd be curious to see how she fares post-baby. That'll be a huge topic of discussions for a while on a lot of subjects
Who is everyone picking tonight? I'm torn on Lawler-Woodley and Kowalkiewicz-Namajunas. Leaning toward two upsets but I don't know.
Don't even know the card for tonight other than Lawler/Woodley. Going with Lawler taking it in the 3rd
Going with Woodley and Rose. Those are just based on favorites though. Woodley is from my home state and wrestled here at Mizzou so I generally always root for him.
haha yep! That was at Bellator in St. Louis (so November of last year), and I asked him, "So you get a title shot now right?"", and he said in the most disappointing tone "Man, that's what they tell me, but you can never listen to them..." So I'm happy for him that he's getting his time tonight.
Happy for TWood. I kind of thought he was a bad stylistic match up for Lawler and would most likely get it done via strikes. He favors the takedowns way more than anyone (even Hendricks) so I figured those hands would be easy to draw low.
