I agree, but there are tons of celebrities who get into it with paparazzi or fans, deservingly or not. Not excusable behavior by any means. It’s more than it’s not surprising from some. I’m sure he had loads of security with him and could have easily avoided whatever the confrontation was.
Yeah I guess the biggest thing is if it were another top star in a different sport they would be burned at the cross immidiately . I feel Conor gets away with too much already, so I get fired up lol
Idk how I would handle fans cause I don’t have any. But if I had paparazzi ruining my day every day I’d likely smash a few cameras.
I legitimately don't think fame and fortune is worth it because of that shit . I would never want that attention everywhere. Some people like it, I would absolutely loathe it.
Yeah, and not being able to just go out ANYWHERE without people asking for pictures and autographs, oof, I hate when strangers say something about the weather to me.
Yeah, I didn't really have a point regarding whether or not we should demonize him or not. haha. I just mean you have to consider how much he probably has to deal with on a daily basis (a lot from his own doing). He's talked a ton of shit to hype up nearly every fight he's had and sort of made himself the villain in a lot of instances, but he's done so at a level of attention that we can't really compare from another fighter within this sport. So I'm sure he gets people wanting to start shit with him all the damn time beyond people just wanting to force him to take photos or something....especially after his last fight which was really polarizing. That's why I didn't jump to the conclusion that he was a piece of shit for this particular instance since I have no idea what this "fan" was doing (whether it was a positive or negative interaction). Again, I don't want to make an excuse for him or say he's innocent by any means since I still think he could most definitely avoided this situation (he broke a phone, wasn't like he had to fight to defend himself)... I just hate jumping to such strong opinions so soon.
Conor definitely brought this perception as an out of control asshole on himself, but this incident is fairly minor. People treat athletes and celebrities like caged zoo animals and the second the athlete retaliates they’re demonized. Yesterday had two perfect examples with Conor and Russell Westbrook.
Well I’d say it’s crazy that those are considered felonies. He broke someone’s phone. How is that a felony?
I mean, there should be serious penalties for smashing someone elses property otherwise people would do it all the time, no?
If this was a one time thing, sure, it wouldn’t be as big of a deal. But when you consistently have a reputation of this, and even more major incidents, there’s no sympathy from me. Connor is a shithead and continues to prove that.
I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a penalty for his actions. Despite the fan likely being wrong with his actions, Conor overreacted. Multiple felonies over a phone seems a bit much but I don’t make the rules.
The charge is probably more tied into the fact that he is a fighter and more than likely threatened to fight the guy. I feel like there's another element needed other than grabbing someone's phone and smashing it to be considered a strong-arm robbery. The fact that he could probably kill the guy with a punch is probably heavily considered because there's a serious physical threat there if a guy is trying to take away your property by force.
My take on it is that something must've been said to set him off in that sense, unless he's really that high energy/crazy all the time. But it doesn't appear that way, especially in more recent times. Sucks that he smashed the phone for himself, especially having just completed his community service days before. But Conor gets photos taken of him/with him by fans all the time and I believe he's pretty enthusiastic about it. The guy likely made a comment to get a rise out of him, and he unfortunately got one.

He has a fanbase that will defend and rationalize anything he does, it's very odd. I used to like him, not anymore. Total opposite now.
Only just getting around to listening to Ariel’s show from Monday. It’s such a fucking cop out that Romero said that Costa has failed a drug test. Of all fucking people. I hope Jacare beats this piece of shit.
Oh no. I hope he gets some help. https://mmajunkie.com/2019/03/ufc-tony-ferguson-wife-files-restraining-order-police-visit-home/
