The whole “Conor threw the first punch” thing is dumb imo. Khabib’s team outside jumping Conor’s guys and then more of them were coming into the cage towards Conor. Throwing a punch at that point is not “the first punch”.
Ah, right. Read that wrong, need another coffee. Personally, I'm here for the drama. This type of stuff is how stars get made.
Khabib trying to strong-arm the UFC into getting his way and making passes for some of the shittiest sportsmanship I’ve seen in a long time. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out pal.
Khabib is weird. I really enjoy him in the cage but he’s super serious about everything lol. I get that’s his nature but damn. What’s he gonna do outside of the UFC? There’s a near 0% chance he losses to someone outside of the company. And the UFC would just contract lock him if he was like “nope fuck you”. Fight Tony. Fight Conor again. Call it a career and potentially stay undefeated.
I don't think Khabib cares if he fights or not. It's a lot of leverage to have, something most fighters don't have, so good for him for using it (ignoring the ethics of the situation).
The whole "Conor threw a punch first" thing was really only relevant when we were talking about him declining to press charges, in my opinion. He ran to get involved in the scuffle and hit a guy when he wasn't looking (while he was exiting the cage, not going after Conor). So I didn't really commend him for "taking the high road" legally, if that makes sense. But on the other side of it, I don't think what Conor did was punishable whatsoever. As everyone else has said, his whole team was being mobbed so you can't fault him for inserting himself. By the time that idiot jumped into the cage behind him and sucker punched him in the back of the head, Conor was already restrained by security, so even if Khabib feels like that attack was in retaliation for the punch that Conor threw, that's still a huge stretch. I also don't get his excuse of "he insulted us" as an excuse for the attack. That doesn't really hold up.
In my opinion, they stand to make a lot of money off of him in the near future just because of the buzz off of this latest fight, the McGregor rivalry and the drama surrounding it... It would sting but wouldn't be the end of the world. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Oh yeah I don’t think khabib ends up leaving. They’ll work out another fight and he’ll stay. I really don’t think Khabib grasps what he did. I mean, less than a hour after it happened he was interviewed and when asked about it he said “why are we still talking about this”.
Both of them are pretty damn good. Bader/Meathead, Roy/Kharitonov, Kimbos son all fight tomorrow night. The Chael/Fedor card is great as well. Has Benson, Kongo, Schlemenko
Bader/Mitrione should be so good. I considered Mitrione Bellator's heavyweight champ before this tournament started, it'll be interesting to see if he can land on Bader and if Bader can wrestle the biggest boys. Chael/Fedor is a complete wild card.
Khabib doesn’t need to fight again. That’s literally the greatest leverage a successful fighter can have against a promoter. It’ll all work out in the end though. I’m down with the Bellator cards.
