Can you imagine if DC takes that fight, walks in there like Conor did totally underestimating his opponent, and loses his title to the one guy not begging for a shot?
It’s hard for them to not make the rematch after smashing the buy record like that. I’ll watch it but it’s likely the same outcome.
In regards to Daley swinging on Koscheck after the match ended: "UFC president Dana White announced that he was banishing Daley from the UFC for life. White said, "There's no excuse for that. These guys are professional athletes. You don't ever hit a guy blatantly after the bell like that, whether you're frustrated or not." He added, "I don't care if he fights in every show all over the world and becomes the best and everybody thinks he's the pound-for-pound best in the world, he will never fight in the UFC ever again."" Looks like Khabib is the new Conor in that he's getting special treatment.
Side note: Koscheck was an under rated trash talker. I wanted that dude to get his ass beat every time he got in the cage.
Yeah and Khabib? The guy who did a fly kick into the audience causing the brawl to spark in the first place? A fine for a guy who just made millions, and a 10-day suspension (which is what I last saw rumored to be the punishment) for somebody who likely won't fight for 6 months is less than a slap on the wrist. It's the UFC not reprimanding their cash cow undefeated champion properly. No champion fighter has ever acted that stupidly. He also caused shit like this to happen.
The 10 day suspension is basically a hold (Conor got one as well) until the commission can investigate it more and hold a proper hearing. Think they said November. Conor will go through the same process as Khabib. Similar to the Conor/Diaz water bottle thing.
Outside of USADA issues, if anyone thinks UFC is going to voluntarily hinder themselves from making money I don't know what to tell you.
That's debatable, and I don't think that's fair. You can't blame a single person or hold him accountable for fans fighting. Fans fight at sporting events all the time, a lot of the times for no other reason than that they are just drunk and their team lost. As Brendan Schaub said before the fight, it seemed dangerous to even attend the event because of the hostility between the two crowds. It was a volatile environment even before Khabib jumped over the cage, and you knew tempers were going to be flaring towards the end of the event anyway because one of the two sides had to suffer a loss. I like listening to Bisping's take on all of this because he's also a shithead who's spat at someone's corner before. haha. (caption in the video is clickbait)
I don't think it's good to be complicit in unfair treatment of athletes in a sport that already struggles enough to be taken seriously. Khabib's actions cause more long-term harm for the sport than people want to believe.
You don't believe that Vegas police being as prominent in that arena that night, and having such swift reaction to Khabib/subduing him as fast as they did didn't prevent a riot there? I am beyond amazed people did not start chucking shit at the octagon. I listened to Bisping's take already and I don't think he really retracted much of his opinion except that he didn't see Conor throw the punch he did. At the same time, that member of Khabib's team was headed out of the octagon to also go after Danis. Would you stand there and watch your friend get jumped? Better yet, if you're Conor, do you think you're gonna stand by while the entire octagon and area around you is suddenly swarmed with people all trying to go after you and your teammates? The circumstances are beyond shitty. Conor deserved more punishment for his actions previous to UFC 229, and Khabib deserves more for this.
Blaming crowd fights on the incident doesn’t hold any weight because there were fights happening at the weigh-ins too.
Joanna and Val was a rumored fight for Dec. that was scrapped. Val is facing Eubanks for the vacant Flyweight title in NY now.
I thought I saw Brett or maybe Bronsteter say yesterday something like “worth noting ufc has yet to officially announce Val v Eubanks”? I’m really hoping they walked that plan back and decided to go with dc/Lewis at 230 and JJ/Val at 231 haha Edit: must have been Bronsteter
