  1. When that incident happened I remember reading that Khabib was associated with the people who attacked the guy. I’m pretty sure it was Brendan Schaub who claimed that.

Oh okay. That makes more sense. I find it hard to believe Khabib would be directly involved in The shooting and all of that, and I don’t always trust what Schaub says but I just don’t know enough about Dagestan/Khabib’s mob ties to say confidentially one way or another.

My point of view was Artem loosely associates khabib and talks shit, khabib confronts him for talking shit, and Conor goes nuts and attacks a bus because artem was threatened.

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

First, I was more so saying that the sport as a whole is ignorant to what they were allowing to happen between the two camps. They didn't/don't expect it to get as serious as it did. I didn't mean it towards YOU.

Second, I'm very very familiar to what has happened between the two camps. I acknowledge what I know to be true, in that the guys that were involved in the initial attack are not among Khabib's team or family. The confrontation between Artem and Khabib's team was the same as every other interaction that has happened inside a hotel (aside from the actual fights that have taken place). Conor's reaction was completely a different level and it unfortunately brought us here.

Again, everything that happened start to finish was/is bullshit and bad, but no one's hands are clean is my point.

The bus incident is brought up in this thread specifically just because it is more relevant to the conversation of fighters being reprimanded by the UFC. Fighters confront each other all the time so I don’t know how much they can do about the hotel stuff, but Conor’s crew directly caused four people to fall off the card and endangered the UFC staff, so it deserves to be mentioned.

As pertaining to the argument of “who started it”, I definitely agree every other piece is just as important as the bus thing. It’s escalated with each event and each side has had the opportunity to let it go. This fight definitely should have been the end of it though.

I completely agree with this. Being all about respect and honour doesn't mean it goes out the window if someone disrespects you. If you're all about respect and honour, when shit happens you be the bigger person.

I don't think anyone on here thinks what Khabib did was justified....

@currytheword It won't let me PM you so I'll just say it here, I don't mean to call you out or anything, you have great input and better knowledge than me, I didn't mean to basically say fuck you, I dont like having beef with anyone on this site, no need for it. My bad.

McGregor got clowned during the fight. Happy to see it.

Post fight stuff was garbage. Everyone is to blame.

The idea that they would actually strip Khabib of a title is laughable.

Not really, if he gets suspended for > 6 months...

No worries, I should more often think about how my text reads. I also have grown up in an area where “bud” comes off as disrespectful and condescending so I may have read your response in the wrong context. We good.

Suppose you're right, once they need to fill a main event things will get tricky. It's all semantics though, strip him or not, he'll be fighting for the title next time he comes back.

Right, the title means so little that they might just hold off on stripping Khabib until they need some PPV headlining spot. In a different year, stripping him would be a big deal, but nowadays they will do it just out of convenience and then give the person a title shot two months later.

  16. Derrick Lewis gained over 500k Instagram followers after the fights hahah

What an insane win he had. Crazy that he's actually moving up the rankings despite feeling that he doesn't deserve a title shot which he's basically said twice now after his fights.

What a weird spot for him to be in. Watching those performances, you don't really see him as a title contender, but he keeps racking up wins in a shallow division, so what else can you do? Him vs. Stipe/Blaydes would be great, but who knows how up for it those guys would be.

If you don't match up the contenders (Derrick vs. Stipe or Curtis) then you basically just have to keep circling back to JDS, Overeem and Hunt. It's kind of a bummer, but all of the guys we had when the division was actually exciting a few years back are MIA - Mir, Bigfoot, Big Country, Cain, Barnett, Rothwell, Werdum, Browne... The complaint has always been a lack of good competition, but now there are hardly any guys even on the roster haha.

Wouldn't be surprised if they give Lewis one more fight and then let him fight for the vacant belt after Brock vs. DC is done.

Does Cain ever fight again? I feel like he has to inevitably.

I thought this year we would have a definitive answer as to whether or not he was returning. Part of me feels like he wanted to wait to see what happened with DC. Given his age i'm assuming one of two things:

-He's actually done, just hasn't announced it publicly.
-He's waiting to fight for the vacated title his close friend is currently holding.

There’s no way he walks straight into a title fight is there?

Deservingly? No. But if Brock can have one coming off of a suspension and not having won a UFC match (fairly) in years, they better be willing to give it to an actual top contender like Cain. Especially considering he may not come back for long if he does.

  24. I’d like to see Stipe get the winner of DC/Brock and have Lewis/Curtis go at it. But I don’t know how long Stipe will want to wait to fight again. Maybe they do him v Cain.

  25. They honestly just need to do Tony v Khabib next. It’s the only thing that makes sense. Conor will eventually get his rematch with Khabib but he needs to fight someone else first.
