Conor didn't face a suspension because, as disgraceful as his actions were in NY, they were outside of an actual sporting event and in a loading bay. He still faced criminal charges, he still wound up paying insane amounts of fines. Every fighter put in harms way on that bus had full reason to press charges against him and were able to. Khabib acted an absolute damn fool. He didn't act like a champion. Saying sorry for nearly inciting a riot, jumping the cage, and trying to fly kick a member of the audience is bullshit. He deserves to be stripped. He posted a picture of his team that jumped Conor last night saying he loves them. He feels no remorse for what he did. He thought because of Conor's actions previous to the event that what him and his team did was warranted, as made obvious by his remarks in his post-fight interview.
UFC's favoritism (Conor/Jones) is terrible but par for the course in the fighting promotion business.
Saying they were outside of the sporting event is a cop out in my opinion. They were at the venue with ufc staff and security being paid to prevent these things. That’s more than enough to consider a suspension of some sort. I’m not saying what khabib did was good, I’ve said multiple times in this thread that all of this sucks. I’m saying UFC set the precedent by not issueing any sort of punishment and did nothing but fostered this environment. If they’re going to punish someone punish everyone. That’s the way it should be in my opinon. They chose not to though.
None of my comments have defended any of Conor's previously shitty actions. I don't think people should be, even in the slightest, surprised if Khabib loses his championship. It's deserved.
If they strip him I just hope they do the right thing and make it Tony vs the winner of Nate/Dustin. I’d be pretty fucking mad if they did like Tony vs Conor for the belt.
In a sane world Conor would have been suspended by the ufc for a year and Khabib would have been stripped and suspended for a year too. That’s the way it should be 100% UFC decided to reward Conor instead so stripping khabib now is clear reactionary favoritism and doesn’t seem right to me.
That pretty much sums up my feelings, as well. More than anything, I just can’t get over how senseless this was on Khabib’s part. Like, you just finished him. You won the rivalry. You got PAID to legally beat him up and humble him in front of millions. Just let it end there and you’re golden.
You know, I haven’t actually seen an update on that personally. They might be trying to sort it out first. I was just speaking about a hypothetical situation where he happily walks away with his check after winning and doesn’t start a riot. Haha.
I’ll again say I don’t think either side is in the right, I just it’s unfair to bring up the bus incident over and over but not acknowledge the incident in Russia with Lobov and his friend followed by the incident in the hotel with Lobov. This feud between the two sides goes back well before the week in New York.
I simply asked if you are a Conor fan and you come off as condescending. I've said it before you're just not fun to talk about this stuff with. Oh well.
But for real, is any state commission gonna let those guys fight in their state considering what’s happened the last two times they’ve been in an arena together?
$$$$ Most likely. Wouldn’t even be shocked if they did it again in Vegas. Nevada commission will always be shady as fuck
How was khabib associate with the incident in Russia? The article I just read didn’t mention anything at all about Khabib being directly involved. The only mention of khabib was about how it started when dagastanis confronted him because Conor “seemed disinterested in a fight with Khabib” so I must be missing something. Was Khabib more involved or was artem just associating him because of the Khabib v Conor talk that started it? Bringing up the shooting as a defense of Conor attacking the bus doesn’t make sense if Khabib didn’t actually have anything to do with it so I must be missing something...
