I'm very interested in what Conor says about this, I really think he is going to apologize for pushing it too far and all. Whether it's genuine or a PR move, no idea.

  2. Conor was surrounded by Khabib’s people in the cage while his team was getting jumped outside the cage. Him “throwing the first punch” isn’t the same as him initiating what happened in the cage after the fight. He knew exactly what was going on and defended himself.

Khabib and his merry band of bandits trying to start a brawl at a sporting event isn't excused because of Conor's shitty previous actions that he was reprimanded for and cost him a LOT of money. Khabib should've been able to handle the pressure as a champion. He clearly couldn't. Trash talk is nothing new in this sport.

Yeah I don't think anyone is really defending Khabib, how could you, but the whole painting Conor as a huge victim (which was started by the commentators) is just ridiculous and laughable. That's what is bothering me most today. Conors fans clamoring from a soapbox, ridiculous.

  6. Where can they do the rematch? Would New York or Nevada allow it? Lol

Khabib smashed. I am happy with that.

That being said, the after fight was real real unfortunate. Khabib is responsible for his own actions, without question. BUT people fail to understand how far Conor went in the things he said. Yes, they are words. But Dana allowing things to get as far as they did, with Conor bringing up his people, his country, his family, his religion. These are things that need to be stifled immediately when they happen. These are fighters. There’s a reason they’re in the business that they are. These are crazy people. Dana, provide a fucking line and stick to it. Don’t sit there talking about being disgusted, while instructing your people to include every last clip you can find into the next hype package. ‘It’s all apart of the story’, jesus christ.

This shit sucks, and I hate it for everyone, but Dana deserves a fair amount of blame at this point too.

Khabib could murder Conor in cold blood and these twits would just be like “what about the bus incident?”

  9. I think Khabib will get about a six month suspension and I’d like to see a rematch but my boy Tony deserves that.

That fight last night was incredible

And if we are being technical here, and really wanna go with the blame game, how about we don't forget Khabib and his crew cornering and nearly jumping Artem Lobov in a hotel lobby while he was alone? Khabib and his team are a bunch of scumbags.

Strip him, suspend him for a good amount of time. This is no better than any other athlete leaving the court/field at a game and trying to fight a coach of another team. Unprofessional, dangerous, and shitty. Khabib and two other people went after his coach, and 3 people jump Conor in the octagon? Feels a little more premeditated than people want to believe.

  11. I think if he gets suspended for six+ months he’ll get stripped.

We might end up getting Tony vs Dustin/Nate which would be cool.

Also can people stop giving Tony Ferg microphones. Every time he talks he's so unbelievably cringe-worthy I can't stand it. He thinks his trash talk is so good too, and it makes it even worse. He'll like, deliver one of his dorky lines and then nod in his own approval like "Anymore questions since I just killed that last one?"

Yeah I admire Tony's passion, but dude is devoid of any good charisma.

  15. Cornering Lobov when Lobov knows what some of the people with Khabib are capable of. His friend was jumped and hospitalized in Khabib’s home city and it started with those guys arguing with Lobov. Then he gets cornered by a bunch of people. I’m not saying anyone on Conor’s side was in the right for how they responded in New York but Khabib and his cronies are the ones that made it personal.

Come on, man. ‘Nearly jumped him’, I’m not sure how long you’ve been watching but confrontations between fighters and teams in hotels and elsewhere have been regularly happening for close to a decade.

Everything here was wrong, but blame goes to all parties involved, including Conor.

For being such a multicultural sport, the ignorance of people is astounding.

Having grown up with a fair amount of former soviet union refugee families (and seeing many fights based on their race and religion), I’m shocked anyone thought this was NOT going to happen. After all that has been said and done, sometimes these guys never stop seeing red.

Khabib vs. GSP in 6 months, please.

It’s awful for both. If people can excuse either side’s actions or think that one is a victim of the other in this whole chain of events, there’s probably some bias going on that they aren’t recognizing. Stupid actions and violence just brings on more of the same.

My link to the tweet about Conor’s sucker punch wasn’t placing blame on him for what happened, but it was more in response to people praising him for not pressing charges. He ran to join the scuffle and hit Khabib’s brother while he wasn’t looking, and people talk about how cool he is for not taking legal action. Come on.

I feel like that’s the worldwide concensus. Tony is worse than Colby. And I hate Colby.

I would be so down for that. Tony vs. Nate would be a good match between durable, high-endurance weirdos.

I’m thinking in order to beat Khabib, you need someone who will be able to withstand his top game for a couple of rounds but still have the gas tank to really put it on him in rounds 3-5. Conor actually kind of showed that was possible because he was defending takedowns in the later rounds, but unfortunately he didn’t have the gas tank to implement anything worthwhile on the feet. I feel like Tony and Nate might have that going for them.

  21. Nate v Khabib would also be great

So you condescendingly try to act like I don't know the sport, and call me ignorant, because you disagree with what I said? Never thought in the MMA thread i'd see that tactic being used like it is all the time on this site.

I'm very familiar with confrontations happening between fighters outside of the octagon. Duh.

5 chronies and a trained athlete literally, physically cornered Lobov in a hotel lobby and it had to be separated. Lobov's friend was hospitalized by similar men in Russia over supporting Conor before that.

It was referenced in relation to the conversation at hand. Which was, in fact, the actual spark that ignited the feud between the two camps. So really, have you been paying attention as well as you like to make it seem? Nobody else in the UFC is trying to pull anything like that except for these tools. He picked a fight with the biggest trash talker in the game, fully aware of what he was in for, religion and family brought up or not. He had a crazy great victory and his biggest payout in his career. Him and his camp decide try and jump an exhausted fighter who was just choked out? S-C-U-M-B-A-G-S.

Stripping khabib after giving the bus attacker a title shot 6 months later is insane.

  24. Well, Khabib wanted the Conor fight. It’s not like UFC forced it.
