UFC is in such a weird spot, but you can't help but to think a lot of these issues have been caused by them trying to solve problems in the short term. They jump at super fights immediately now, move mountains to get Brock or Conor those prime spots and shelve whoever they need to, and those god awful unnecessary interim belts are just being handed out left and right which is doing absolutely nothing except devaluing the actual titles. I mean, I get that they have to fulfill the PPV obligations and hopefully the interim belts put a little more money in the guys' pockets, but still. I'm honestly surprised there haven't been multiple interim belts held in the same division at this point. Could you imagine a title unification bout for the undisputed interim champion?
I'd still love to see Yoel vs. DC. Should have made Nate and Dustin the main event from the start and bucked the PPV needing a champion trend, but alas.
Believe he said he'd be into defending the 205 belt, but I don't think anyone seriously believed him. Brock's the easiest /highest paying fight out there for him. I'd wait too. That said, I could totally see some UFC fuckery happening. Stripping the 205 belt from him or setting up Jones/Brock instead.
DC has a hand injury apparently. No idea how serious it is but according to Helwani it's bad enough to keep him out until late this year.
Wtf. Romero specifically said he couldn't fight Costa at 230 because he just had eye surgery. I guess things heal quicker when there's a belt on the line... if only weight cuts worked that way for him
UFC trying to line up fight between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232 lol so Gus/Romero at 230 is already off the table I guess
DC doesn’t need to fight anyone. I say this as a Lesnar fan boy, but he deserves the pay day to wait and fight Brock with all the TWO DEVISION (lol) CHAMP hype. The UFC forcing belts make things less and less legitimate.
Especially since they've both been out for sometime now (or maybe not haha). Should be a relatively even playing field.
Ha. So basically, the UFC didn’t like Dustin and Nate using the same tactic the UFC implements all the time and are trying to play them both. Like when they announced Romero vs. Costa before it was final to pressure them into signing. Sketchy.
