Most uneventful fight I’ve ever seen. I almost can’t believe it. Even worse than Kimbo vs Houston Alexander. Annnd the best shot Francis landed was after the bell.
I just told the people I’m with that I just realized why his nickname is “The Predator”. He’s like a T-Rex; if you just don’t do anything, he apparently forgets you’re even there. But really, I think he lost all of his confidence in that scary power after he took that beating from Stipe. He was never afraid because he always landed that big shot, but once he found out how it feels to NOT land it, gas out, and get pulverized for 25 minutes, it shook him.
That was a dream moment for DC. Wins a second title in the first round and gets a WWE moment with Brock. Even let him take the mic from Joe and run the show.
Also, I somewhat predicted all this after Stipe vs. Francis and before the fight with DC was even announced. Haha.
Overall, that card was a huge let down. I didn't expect my favorite heavyweight to get clocked by my least favorite HW/LHW fighter in the first round. Two of the most entertaining heavyweights literally stood in front of each other for 3 rounds, and the best fight that was booked got dropped. However, impressive wins from both Pettis and Costa. I'm glad I streamed it instead of paying. Props to DC for making history. Well deserved, he always does better than I expect. I don't like some of the stuff he does in fights, but there's no denying he's the best now in the division. However, I think it's BS he'll call Jones a user and not deserving of another shot/say his losses were because Jones was using, yet go through a corny staged confrontation and accept a challenge from a guy who's also clear cut user and totally undeserving of a title shot.
