Didn't really like Dan the Dancer but the rest has been really good so far.

 

didn't listen to any of the pre release tracks. first listen now

 

HOLY SHIT my body's made of crushed little stars. i've waited to hear this song for years. she's played this almost every time i've seen her, thought it was an old song

 

This is, unsurprisingly, excellent.

 

Yep, great album. Very happy right now.

 

its pretty good. the last two tracks were the best on my first listen.

This is great. Not as immediately in love with it as Makeout Creek but it's still great

 

I really like this on first listen. "Your Best American Girl," "My Body's Made of Crushed Little Stars," and "A Burning Hill" are my initial favorites.

yes it is. and I already knew this but "Happy" is just such an exceptional song

 

I thought this leaked like 2 weeks early not a month. Bummer.

 

I'm going to need some time with this one. After two listens, I enjoy it, but I don't love it. That doesn't worry me, though, because the same thing happened with Bury Me and I love that album now. Happy, Once More to See You, Your Best American Girl, and Crack Baby all stood out to me.

 

yup. that record just had an incredible immediate impact that also allowed you to grow into a lot more. this one seems like it could be a slow burner that has more subtleties, we'll see though. that's just one special record, sometimes artists just really hit that point and it doesn't matter what else they do, haha.

 

really enamored with "Crack Baby." that is a weird sentence

lol did i really say i didn't like dan the dancer this morning

 

listened like five times yesterday and i don't like it as much as the last one. probably still need time to grow into it, but i don't think the hooks are as strong, and there was just an aspect to the songwriting that i can't really put into words that just made the last one stand out a lot more than this one. i think the lyrics as a whole song are more important the single lines in this one, fewer "facebook status lines", which is probably a good thing, but makes it a bit more difficult to consume at first. i do like it, and i hope it grows, but as of now it just doesn't seem to have the magic of "bury me at makeout creek"

 

"i bet on losing dogs" is crushing
