Is it bad that I don’t want her to win? Just because I don’t want that to be her first Grammy? And also does this disqualify her from a future run at best new artist?
I don’t think she technically would recieve the Grammy since she didn’t design the packaging, although I’m no Grammys expert so maybe that’s not how it works.
But srsly idk what those chords are, it's the one part in the video that doesn't show her hands. edit: Crap, I'm dumb. It's probably just GdAd GdAd GBCAF# GBCAF# 75% sure.
all i want is another tour where i can see Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, and Jay Som all on one night, but i know that tour was a special fucking night i probably won't get another chance at attending
It took me a few listens of Puberty 2 for it to click with me. Be the Cowboy was instant but maybe that’s cus I was already used to her style.
I’ll echo Matt’s sentiment - her music does require some time. Try watching her music videos as well, Your Best American Girl blew me away the way it did mostly because of the video. The way Mitski highlights some raw messages that resonate with so many people against playful visual ideas is just superb. Some of her work grew on me, the rest was immediate. I’m a huge fan of contrasting devastating lyrics with lively music, so this album is perfect for me. If you give Be The Cowboy another listen and it still isn’t for you, that’s okay too!
I’m happy I’ll finally get to see her perform with a full band. She was great solo, but I need that loud guitar/bass combo
This is a super accessible album, I think. Being put off by her earlier ones might make sense, this one is pretty immediate though
Similar here. Was never into Mitski before Be The Cowboy. Took me a few listens & I was hooked. Be The Cowboy will likely be in my top-five for 2018.
