i really hope it is not worse than dead reckoning, man

the whole thing is like an extremely long 3rd / 4th act of that movie

I liked this until the last 30 or so minutes and then I loved it. Tying all the movies together like they did with the Bond movies and Spectre doesn’t totally work but it’s still pretty fun. Cruise is a mad man. I’d put it above 2 and dead reckoning.

It really better than Dead Reckoning in every way. Way more fun, more action, more heart. Overall not better than several other entries in the series, but better than 2 and Dead Reckoning at least.

Interesting. I recall 2 total proper action sequences in the movie. Felt like dead reckoning had way more.

There is a moment that deserves to be a new all time great gif.

  9. If one saw Dead Reckoning when it came out, but hasn’t seen t it since and only loosely remembers the plot, how lost would they be watching this?

they have flashbacks throughout you’ll be fine

They really don’t trust the audience to remember practically anything from all the other movies. I think there’s one moment they reference the last movie in a specific way and don’t show it again in this movie. I only caught it because I rewatched Dead before heading out to see this.

  12. Word, thank you both. We were having a successful series rewatch, but ran out of time for DR since we’ve had some friends in town all week. I should be able to squeeze it in today, but was feeling concerned for my wife who has to work. I think she tried to watch it last night but a three hour movie is nothing but a lullaby for her if it’s on the couch lol

On rewatch I came around on liking Dead Reckoning a lot more. Also, I've come to like 2. This is probably the most fun franchise (with this many movies) to rewatch front to back every year I can think of

I’m doing a rewatch and 2 isn’t great, but I love all the hip, new tech (Motorola car phone!). It’s too bad it’s the only M:I that’s like Tom Cruise is allowed to be hot and horny as hell.

2 has boring stretches but the John Woo stuff in the third act rocks

Long and convoluted, but fun as hell. Fitting send off

  20. Just finished me DR rewatch. I liked it more than I remember, but man that last act is really just a mile ahead of everything else. Feel like my expectations for this have been significantly lowered based on the comments here so hoping to have the opposite effect where I somehow actually love it lol. 30 minutes to get to the theater

Okay this was a LOT lol. I get the complaints people have about it being a bit convoluted and slow toward the beginning. I think it winds up being worth the grind

Love how Milchick and Natalie were both in this

Gabriel going full on moustache twirling villain was not something I predicted - his laughter and facial expressions during that final act were out of control in the best way. The broken arm into his death was just so perfectly unhinged

One of the things that I love so much about 3 was how the macguffin literally does not matter and only exists to justify a movie. As someone who is sad to see that narrative die, I loved the payoff even more

Maybe the only franchise that could run back the main character drowning and being revived, as well as an aircraft chase scene for its climax, and still keep me fully on the edge of my seat with no complaints

People at my theater loved every Milchick line.

I need a rewatch to confirm my feelings. Not my favorite of these movies but a fun send off (if it is)

Just got out of the cinema after watching The Final Reckoning and the first 2 acts were slow but the final act was insane, definitely a fitting end to the franchise.

Did anyone at your screenings had a pre recorded intro by Tom Cruise before the movie started? I did which caught me out of nowhere!
