This is fighting for premium screens with Lilo & Stitch thus limiting some of the showings. But, I do enjoy a packed opening weekend crowd

    Started my re-watch yesterday.

I love the spectacle that these have become, but it's easy to forget what a top-notch, weird spy thriller the original one is and how much it was part of the zeitgeist. The vault scene was parodied so much.

It looks fantastic. De Palma shot the hell out of it with all the Dutch angles and split diopter shots.

And then to fall off so hard for the sequel, haha

First reactions started dropping for this and.. yeah. Not the best, based on the ones I’ve seen.

I don't care what anyone says, if Tom is playing Ethan, I'm seated.

I’m sure it’ll be a good time but I didn’t love the last one so none of what I’m hearing surprises me

While I generally tend to fall on the side of critics, I ultimately do no care what they say or if I want to see a movie. I’m gonna go see this even if it got a 0% on RT.

The main first impression caveats are that it's too long and there's too much going on. Which seem about on par with the criticisms for Dead Reckoning, and while I don't disagree with those criticisms that movie still rocks. Nothing can dampen my hype for this movie.

This and “Friendship” come out here next week. Might see them in the same day because I have cousin’s wedding that weekend. Gonna be nuts.

while there are valid issues to be had, i still think this is worth seeing as i really liked (but didn't fully love) it. has a lot less levity than the last one (actually it's noticeably darker than most of these). felt like it was trying to up the ante beyond what's normal for them and there's moments where that doesn't work, almost completely in the first half. lots of exposition which will turn some off. gabriel is better as the villain at least, but even then he says things like "catch me if you can, ethan!!!!!"

but from where i'm standing, it's still solid, compelling, and mostly exciting. it just has more pockmarks than i expected. also didn't need to be nearly three hours. still worth catching in imax or dolby probably

From what I’ve read - it seems that the first hour is kind of a mess but the set pieces are spectacular so it’s still a fun time at the movies it’s just not hitting the heights of the best ones in the franchise

The critics from Breakfast All Day had a great time. I trust their opinion.

No bad reviews can stop me from seeing Cruise jump out of a plane on an IMAX screen
