I thought it was clever as you never really knew who was who, but I can see how the overuse could make the concept become stale.
It was used in a clever way in the first film but in the second it just felt like a get out clause to a bad script.
I will say that whole scene with the door exploding, the doves, that music, with the mask reveal was dopppee. then he throws the mask off and kicks into the theme. love it haha.
As much as I loved Rogue Nation, I'm still kind of bummed Cruise decided to go with McQuarrie again as the director. I really liked how every film in the franchise has had a different person behind the camera, for better (JJ, McQuarrie, Bird) and worse (Woo). That said, still excited for the new one, this franchise has been on the most improbable hot streak imaginable.
I felt the same way. on the one hand it was such a great tradition, on the other, Rogue Nation was so good I'm not mad at all haha. so stoked for this movie.
I don’t know. Rogue Nation was such a solid flick and I feel like if the franchise made it to a sixth sequel, why not go back to what worked the last time?
Just because, like @BackyardHero11 said, it's a fun tradition to have a different director every time. M:I3 was really good, and MI:4 & M:I5 were both absolutely amazing, and they all had different directors. I don't know, it always made the franchise stand out to me. I also just like seeing different directors' interpretations of the material. Maybe try to get someone like Kathryn Bigelow to do it, for example.
Think Tom cruise is actually in control of that Instagram? Seems like it would be some high ranking/PR Scientologist or something.
