Lol after Fast 4 those movies start to become more self aware and they are actually a decent amount of fun. Unbelievably dumb, but in an entertaining way.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are great. But spectre and quantum were pretty bad. But fallout might be just as good as casino and skyfall. Have to let the recency bias dissipate and see it again to know for sure.

Really? That surprises me. I thought they were universally liked.

Edit: I'd put 1, 2, First Class, and Days of Future Past on their own above most action franchises mentioned in these last few pages. Definitely better than Fast and Furious, Taken, and the Bond movies of the last 20 years.

Can anyone think of any other franchise where the SIXTH movie is arguably the best?

And yeah I definitely felt the Christopher Nolan vibes in this one too.

It depends how you split up the Bond movies. Overall, then yeah, some of the recent ones are considered the best.

It's mainly just because so many franchises can't go that long.

    Also why not:
    Casino Royale>Skyfall>MI:6>MI:5>MI:1>MI:3>MI:4>Spectre>Quantum>MI:2

Edit: I enjoy all these movies except for MI:2

After some thought, I have one complaint about Fallout:

I think Alec Baldwin's character being the one who died was kind of a cop out. We barely know the guy, in relation to the whole series, and I didn't get an emotional reaction to him dying at all. I think killing characters just to have a shock moment in any movie or TV show is lame, but I think it would have been powerful if Luther did end up dying in the scene in the tunnel at the beginning. It's clear Ethan's motivations throughout the whole series is more than "just a job" and that he puts a lot of weight on his shoulders for people he loves and it's getting to the point where these guys have gone 20 years and seemingly nobody of substance has died on a mission, and I think Luther dying would have hit Ethan, and me, in a way to give the movie much more weight.

Although maybe it should have happened more directly at the hands of Solomon Lane at some point instead of the tunnel. I don't know, I primarily think Baldwin dying was a bit of a wet noodle.

That was a long 15 minutes.

I'm curious how long it actually was, but stuff like that doesn't bother me unless it's egregiously off the mark.

Yeah, I could get by with each scene was concurrent with the other scenes, but everyone was talking to each other lol. It's not a big deal, it's part of the fun. That and the detonator falling, then falling farther, then stopping juuuuust at the edge of the cliff.

Did the runtime (2:27) bother anyone else? I normally don’t mind long movies, but for some reason this one just felt like quite a bit longer than 15 minutes more than the last. (GP 2:12 RN 2:11)

It was the first thing I complained about haha. There were quite a few scenes that would have been better and more tense if they didn't drag like the helicopter chase.

I thought the helicopter chase was exactly the right length. There were a couple of exposition scenes between action sequences that felt slower than usual but overall the runtime wasn’t an issue for me.

I did have to leave the theater to pee once, but it was when Ethan and Ilsa were talking in that tree tunnel thing. Didn't seem like I missed much.

I really wanna see this but think I'm gonna try watching all the other films first. Don't think I've ever seen the first or second. Also don't really remember anything about the more recent ones so I figure a rewatch is in order haha

Good idea, but at the very least you have to watch Rogue Nation since this new one is very related to it.
