This is loads better than Rogue Nation. Like much much better and Rogue Nation wasn't even bad just not my speed.

I will say one thing: this movie was fucking long and they easily could have cut ten minutes.

RN has the opera scene, which is an unfuckwithable action sequence that makes up for whatever mistakes the rest of the movie makes.

Also, I love how much this series respects and cares for its characters, especially for the women. No one is reduced to a sex object or plot point to show how our broken hero still has a heart. They’re smart and they kick ass.

But what I really loved about this is the ending: When Ethan found out his ex-wife was happy and fulfilled with her husband, that’s all he wanted. It didn’t turn into a “I must have her back” type thing that so many movies fall into.

One of my local theaters (Franks) doesn’t have any showings this weekend... so bizarre. Guess I’ll have to go with Regal. Can’t wait to see it though, a lot of people have also been praising the score which is exciting.

This was really good! I don’t know if it felt long or if I was just tired as some car troubles made me see a later than usual showing.

I really enjoyed it either way though.

Just read that Ferguson was 7 months pregnant at the end of filming. Not sure how long filming was though. But now I’m trying to think of there were any shots or anything that could hide that or if it was noticeable at all. I can’t think of anything and I certainly didn’t notice anything during the film.

Just watched the skydiving scene again. It’s unbelievable. I need to know how they did it.

I really liked watching that scene, but it was easily the one piece that could have easily been cut. Unless I missed some dialogue, I don’t get why they couldn’t just drive up to the building.

Unlike the other major stunts it didn’t really fit in with the story. Kind of wish they’d saved it for the next one and made it more necessary to the story.

but yeah, I don't know, the first three movies' treatment of women really bugged me. My friend and I are watching through the series for the first time and just finished the fourth one yesterday. That's the first one I didn't really have a problem with.

So hype to see this tonight. Watched Rogue Nation last night and MI: 2 a couple days ago since it was the only one I hadn't seen start to finish. Unfortunately I have to go by myself since my girlfriend couldn't care less and all my friends are idiots. I've been trying to convince them for weeks that this is the most consistent franchise out there to no avail.

I actually really enjoyed 2. It's so Woo with the doves and slomo and does not hold up well at all, but it was a lot of fun.

2 is the perfect example of something that isn't good, but extremely enjoyable haha

Sorry I am posting so much but I just rewatched the first trailer and there a ton scenes/moments in it that aren't in the actual movie. I hope we get a 4 hour cut of this bad boy

That’s fair. Literally the only problem I had with the length was how uncomfortable I was because our seats (which are being replaced) are terrible. I was bummed when I saw I only had a half hour more (on the phone of the shitty dude in front of me who can’t live without checking Snapchat for a couple hours.)

    I never felt a lull.

I enjoyed the middle section the most, everything in Paris and London.

Agreed. The helicopter scene easily could have been shortened.

I was so tempted to scream hell yeah when I saw Wes Bentley's name in the credits, he and Thora Birch deserved to blow up after American Beauty not that other guy
I like how they clearly tried to hide the fact that Henry Cavill is like a half a foot taller than Tom Cruise, I don't know what kind of magic they used but it worked I guess
needed more Angela Bassett, the way she pronounced Washington was everything
Tom Cruise isn't human, I don't know how he does what he does

I think the score was very reminiscent of The Dark Knight/Rises, which is why I think it gave people Nolan vibes.
