The first still holds up today which astounds me.

 

I think I like GP more than RN but it's tight they're all tight

except 2.

 

Yeah even with the dated tech it really does hold up. It’s peak Tom Cruise and it’s the one with the most style.

 

I just also found it much more organic and grounded in comparison to the rest.

 

I have yet to see Rogue Nation or the new one, planning on maybe watching Rogue Nation tonight after the kids go to bed, but Ghost Protocol is my hands-down favorite going in.

 

I liked Ghost Protocal a lot but i really don’t like Jeremy Renner and i feel like he was much more prominent in that then Rogue Nation

The most unrealistic part of the whole series is that Benji plays Halo at his desk on three big monitors facing a hallway and has never got in trouble.

Boy, what a huge blunder.

I had possibly the worst movie audience of all time but Fallout is fucking awesome. Best franchise. Cruise is the shit Rebecca Feguson is the shit Ving Rhames is real chill Simon Pegg is tight.

The trailers did a good job at hiding why Cruise and Cavill are fighting, I actually didn't see that coming and the mask switcheroo that caught him was great, even if I don't think it made sense. A lot of plot points were ridiculous (Ethan jumping over the bushes, cutting through the net and landing perfectly in his teams boat. The cops driving by Pegg and Rhames and not noticing the super obvious hooded body in the front. A bunch of other stuff).
The last half hour is madness. Only complaints are

1) The trailers show pretty much every big set piece of the movie
2) Bathroom fight scene should've longer. Like a half hour longer because it was incredible.

 

Also can people just start fucking trusting Ethan Hunt? The dude has proved himself AT LEAST 6 times

 

Just got the kids in bed - sitting down to watch Rogue Nation for the first time...

 

Yeah, you need to watch Rogue Nation before this.

Enjoyed this even more a second time. Some of the quibbles I had before subsided now that I fully accept that this is almost two and a half hours long. Stopped feeling like there was a lull or two. Also, apparently some people are saying there are some moments watching this where it supposedly felt like a Nolan film? I didn't quite pick up on that and I generally love his movies

I was wrong before, I guess, when I said this wasn't better than the last two M:I films. I'd say this is easily the best of the two McQuarrie films, as well as the second best overall. Suppose my word ain't shit haha

On the other hand, I was cautious about the early praise Fallout got because I remember there being so many times when initial early praise for movies from certain critics ended up basically being hyperbole (especially if it was a SXSW showing), and I was worried this would be another case of that. But no, it really is that awesome, especially on rewatch for me. I'm hoping I can drive to Natick to see an IMAX of this (and I get to avoid any Moviepass horseshit)

 

yeah I'm gona watch the shit out of this for however long we have it in our theater. It honestly didn't feel long to me, I would've been down for another hour easily if it weren't for how uncomfortable our seats are

 

I love that Walker’s cover story for why Ethan would go full anarchist is that he’s tired of always being double crossed and doubted. Like he just got tired of people fucking him over every time he tried to do good so he just decided to fuck shit up. And the entire CIA is like “Yeah, that makes sense”
