My theater experience is to sit in third row from the front, lean back, and pretend no one else is in the theater.

I struggle to lock in to a movie at home. In theaters I’m fully locked in. It’s the only way to truly see a movie imo

Besides 2020 being a god awful year for so many obvious reasons, not being able to see a movie in theaters and instead had to watch new releases at home or on my laptop was terrible for my mental health. The theater is my church

There is an experiential aspect of going to a theater and sweet it on a large screen with loud speakers that you can’t replicate at home. Not to say you can’t have a kickass system at home and have an experience that can’t be replicated at the theater. It’s just different. For certain movies, the theater is always going to be my preference.

  6. Last time I saw a movie in a theatre I spent the whole time mad someone was scrolling TikTok out of the corner of my eye, jumpy every time the door opened worried someone may be coming in with a gun, annoyed I had to pee and disturb people getting up and/or miss part of the movie while I ran to the bathroom, and the sound mix was off. Every single thing is something I like better at my home. Don’t see myself going back, not worth the stress when the goal is supposed to be fun and entertainment.

I really can't find it in myself to be concerned if someone's going to come in with a gun, because if I start thinking like that, I'll never go anywhere, and I'll become a NEET. If it happens, it happens, I guess.

There are a select few movies, like the MI series, Top Gun, and Avatar where seeing them in the theater is miles better than at home, lose a bit of the magic seeing MI setpieces on the small screen imo.

Even though this didn't have any scenes shot for IMAX, the sound design was incredible, and even if I had my surround system hooked up, I wouldn't have a shot replicating that at home.

I honestly don’t care who does or doesn’t like watching movies in a theater (or has any other entertainment preferences like that), lol. I just think anyone with an antagonistic relationship to theatrical releases is a corny motherfucker worthy of mockery & shame.

I worked at movie theaters on and off for 7 years, even while I was there full time if they said I was fired immediately because all theaters are shutting down in lieu of home viewing I would celebrate so hard I might die. The theater experience is miserable, as are the majority of people who frequent them.

Hey I already said I would put the issue to bed. That Tom Cruise sure is something right?

Man I just hate watching movies on a comically massive screen in a room that was created for the sole purpose of playing movies.

Maybe im spoiled with good theaters (both premium screens and arthouses) in NYC bringing in better crowds compared to the suburbs idk I have very rarely had an issue with other people in the theater

Going to the Alamo helps with the no talking and phones. I also go at pretty dead times and do my best to sit a good distance from anyone else.

Not enjoying theaters is one thing but actively rooting against them and hating the people that do enjoy them is weird behavior!

The amount of times I was directly insulted and screamed at for shit that is totally out of my control working at theaters has lead me to believe that most people going into movie theaters are miserable people. I’ve worked a lot of shit jobs, movie theater customers were the worst (thrift store customers a close #2).

The airport scene might be my favorite in the movie despite having no crazy stunts

I worked in the food industry for years and had food thrown at me by a customer a few times and have been called every insult there is but I don’t wish for the downfall of restaurants.
