I’m on coffee number three this morning already. People are hyped about this one. No changes to the expectations here. Same deal. I, expect Winter Storm Warnings to be issued later today. Blizzard Warnings are not out of the question either, specifically for Wednesday into Thursday. That’ll be the worst of the storm. 12-18” is a safe bet for storm total snowfall right now in the Twin Cities, but it’s distinctly possible that we come in higher than that depending on where the heavy snow bands set up. Expect travel impacts tomorrow with the first round, and then big time issues from late Wednesday into Thursday. Blowing and drifting of snow could linger into Friday.
This week is going to be brutal. I just hope my dentist appointment on Wednesday goes off without a hitch considering it has already been cancelled twice due to weather and illness.
Overall, it looks like the projections overestimated by a little bit which I'm totally fine with it. Stayed home for a few hours this morning to allow roads and conditions to improve but the ride into work felt like March 2020. There is nobody out there on the roads.
Anyone here interested in tickets to Viagra Boys tomorrow at First Ave? I have at least 2, maybe a 3rd.
Has anyone ever lined up for record store day at either the Blaine Cheapos or Maple Grove Down In The Valley? Normally I go to DITV Golden Valley, but I can’t go out until about 8, so I’m thinking about trying something different and going to a spot slightly more off the beaten path! I’m curious about the general selection and line size in the past (while also knowing that the swift fans will be out in full force so previous years line size may be irrelevant).
how is the DITV on record store day? I live down the road from it so I’m tempted to go there, or yeah thought about the maple grove location too myself.
I usually get there a couple hours before they open, and generally have gotten most everything I am looking for. I like how they have the initial rush set up… basically they have everything sorted in crates and when you get to the front you tell an employee what you want and they grab it for you. They don’t let you get more than 1 of any specific title and only a certain number total… I think it’s like 6 or 7. If anyone were to want more than that they can go back in line and through again. after the initial line they do open it up to whoever though, so if you want to check it out and don’t care to line up, you could prob show up about an hour after they open or so and browse through what’s left. They get a pretty huge selection, and not nearly as crazy as electric fetus
I was going to respond to say I would be shocked if the Blaine Cheapo had a line but before replying decided to hit up their Facebook and they provided this update below: Hello, two things—1. As I am out of state until Friday dealing with family/medical stuff, I cannot tell you how many Taylor Swift RSD LPs we have received at the Blaine location—we had not yet gotten the shipment with those in it when I left, so the only way to get the latest info is to call the store directly 763 574 2308 and ask, they will let you know what they can. Further, speaking of Record Store Day (this Saturday, April 22 at 9am) there have some some questions about protocol, so here is the deal—there will be a line, for sure. How long, it really varies, I have seen as small as 15-20 and as large as 50+ people, including in recent cycles people who even camp out overnight to secure their early spot in the line. We do not give out numbers, but the order of the line is strictly maintained when we let everyone in. All the RSD goodies at Blaine are on the wall in alphabetical order behind the counter; one at a time, first come first served, customers may purchase ONE copy of as many different titles as they like, then we move on to the next person, and so on. So far, for years now people have been cool and respectful of each other and toward us, which is appreciated and essential for this to run smoothly. Remember, this is supposed to be fun and not a blood sport. As a general guide, both the St. Paul and Minneapolis locations have significantly longer lines than Blaine but also more titles and more of each title, just FYI for your shopping strategy. Perhaps obviously, we can’t hold or reserve anything for anybody, that is a big-time RSD rule. I think that about covers it—best of luck to all in nabbing what you came for (or at least good runners up) and we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday! Long live independent record stores, a cornerstone of our civilization.
yeah I might try and get there like 7 or so, the only real vinyl I’m looking for is the 1975 BBC philharmonic one and Taylor for my wife lol.
thank you! might just give them a call and see if they can tell me how many of the Orville Peck they got. That’s the one i am worried about finding based on the pressing number
