Yeah, definitely intended my comment anecdotally and not trying to contribute to the overall doom and gloom of the larger public safety discussion. But yeah, obviously horrible and justifiably terrifying for you and others who have actually experienced something like this.
I've honestly been part of the group that generally has thought the city has been pretty safe. But recently, we've had all kinds of crime just seemingly exploding all around us. We live in Windom Park (Northeast), and carjackings and break-ins have seemingly become commonplace. I never thought Minneapolis would be a place where I'd have my car stolen from me at gunpoint, either, especially in Ecco.
I have a pit ticket for My Chemical Romance @ Xcel next Thursday, but I'm so busy that I'll probably be too tired to pit that day, so if anyone has a seat ticket they'd be willing to trade for, hmu!
Has anyone been to a concert at Surly? I’m going to see The National and am starting to get worried about parking. Is there parking lots within walking distance? I live up in Lino Lakes so a little too far for public transit and Uber/Lyft to be realistic options.
Park and ride the green line. Pick a station in the St Paul midway, park your car a few blocks away, and catch the train to the stop by Surly. Or I think street parking is often available in Prospect Park, not sure if it would fill up from something like this.
There’s a lot literally behind surly as well. It’s like a warehouse I think but they offer parking for surly events, at least they did when I went to Phoebe bridgers last year. We did get there a bit early too though.
I wouldn't recommend parking anywhere near Surly, because it took me like 30 minutes to get out of the neighborhood when I saw Phoebe last year, those streets are too narrow to support event traffic. I'd park in the Stadium Village area if possible, then walk the rest of the way.
were any of you the man who kept saying "i'm 38!" to me at the charly bliss / jimmy eat world show last night
idk we were in and out for Phoebe, but we also left with one song left in the encore so I guess it depends on if you are staying until the end or not
