My band is playing a show on the 16th at the Coon Rapids VFW (you gotta start somewhere!) if anyone wants to see some dudes play a few originals along with some covers. It's free and it should be a good time filled with lots of beer drinking and song singing. Then the next day I'll be at the Tiny Moving Parts show, which should be a blast.
went to Holidazzle on Thursday, watched Home Alone and enjoyed the hot cider from Sociable. didn't check out much else, though. Walker can be hit or miss, depending on what you're into and what they have on display. Their 75 years collection was pretty enjoyable. lots of cool history in their collection.
For Today show next week (although I'm mostly going for all the openers, never seen Norma Jean or Silent Planet, and My Epic is always great). Hopefully Household & TMP, too. All Get Out in Feb, Deafheaven/This Will Destroy You in March.
I'm a much bigger fan of the MIA; much more traditional art and paintings, and it's part history museum as well, which is awesome. And always free admission
It's somewhere in new hope, I forgot the exact address. And we have a timmys at moa too?? Christmas come early.
If anyone's looking for something to do tonight and wants to brave the weather my band is playing at the Coon Rapids VFW! The show is free, we go on around 8:45 or so. Should be a fun time!
Our name is the Denim Boys, our 'thing' is wearing all denim and encouraging everyone else to do the same, ha. We play rock/punk basicslly. This was our first non-house show and I think it went really well! We're still working on writing more originals, we've only got a few right now. It sounds like they want us to come back sometime soon, so if any of you are in a band and want to play a show together hit me up and let's set something up!
anyone else going to the a lesson in romantics ten year anniversary april 20th? (insert pot joke here)
I'm moving up!!! Anyone know of a decent place to find a room for rent that isn't in a shithole, with creepers, and isn't in the middle of nowhere?
I thought about it, but fuck a late Wednesday dog. Not trying to get on Hanukkah Harry's naughty list. Yeah there are plenty of pads that aren't dumps. It really depends on your price range and the kind of area you want. If you're thinking Minneapolis, are you trying to go uptown by the lakes and hipsters? Or downtown by the corporate businesses and suits? Dinkytown by the college and students? Northeast by the breweries?
Yeah I'd maybe go to emo night if it was on a weekend but I'm getting too old to be heading out like that on a wednesday! I'm gonna go ahead and urge everyone to get a ticket for Wrestlepalooza next month, even if you aren't a fan of wrestling. I go every year with some buddies and a bunch of them don't care about wrestling and they still love it. It's just the best atmosphere. it's basically a drunk punk rock show with some wrestling as well. Plus motherfucking Dillinger Four is playing, so...
I'll be working in Richfield. So tbh I'd like to be within 20 minutes. SLP and Bloomington are where I'm most familiar, but I don't really mind as long as it isn't in the middle of nowhere.
Everything you mentioned about Wrestlepalooza is why I hate it. The drunkards and the focus on everything but wrestling lol
Wednesday is my Saturday essentially so maybe I'll go but I fear it might be a bust and I'll regret going.
SLP is cool. I have a friend who lives there that digs it. Uptown might also be cool; that's still fairly close to Richfield and you would certainly be a part of society. Uptown is great for the summer.
