They called it a rehearsal but damn were they sharp. Everyone sounded great and they had a really good energy. Really good chemistry and had fun on stage. Definitely excited to see them again and for them to have this little run. Make new music?
I totally second this. It was so good to see them just having fun together again. Setlist was perfect. On stage banter was great. Vibe was perfect. Venue was great.
WOAH, the boys (minus Gabe) just did a live video on the nj pop punk facebook page and teased new music coming too! Could be one song, two, EP, full length, whatever it is it is welcomed!!
Shit you not my friend. I would imagine it's only a new song or two and not album, but either way I'm super excited. Didn't think we would ever get new Midtown material. Can't wait for the 2 NJ headlining shows this winter. Last months warm up show was incredible
I bought a ticket to the California date. I don't even know if I can go, but the venue is 15 min from me and even if I can't go, the boys deserve my $40
The only time I've ever seen Midtown was opening for Fall Out Boy with The Academy Is... and Gym Class Heroes at a small House of Blues in 2005, legendary show
I was trying to think of what the new Anarbor album sounds like and a number of the tracks sounds like they could be from Cobra Starship at times.
So I had only ever listened to Living Well in high school. A lot. Made it through Save the World a few times but never had heard Forget What You Know. Fast forward to a few days ago where I added it to a playlist of punk/emo records that I, for strange reasons, had never listened through. Guess what song I had to force myself not to skip? Wtf? It's like they said "let's sing over the entire goodbye sky harbor outro." I listened to this during a run and thought I had somehow bumped the phone and made the song repeat. Don't think I'll ever complete that track again, but great record still.
What I have learned from this reunion is that Gabe is godfather to James Van Der Beek's child or children
How I imagine their break up now: “Playing guitar in Midtown may have been the opportunity of your lifetime, but I don't want your life” —Gabe
90% sure there's a singer from another band sitting in front of me, star tattoo on the back of his neck, does that sound like Anthony Raneri maybe?
I have got two extra tickets to the 12/2 Sayreville show if anyone is looking for tix / also looking to avoid fees. Let me know!
Thread seems dead, considering these guys have been playing some shows, right? ...how have the shows been?
I think this is ultimately why there's never been a huge appetite for a long-term reunion from these guys. It's fun at first and very HELL YEAH and then it just peters out fast.
