Directors cut exclusive to Apple TV. The Extended Director’s Cut of ‘Midsommar’ Will Be Exclusively Released for Apple TV
so I've seen some clarifying on this. I have an apple tv, however apparently that is now the name of the app that apple in moving toward as they are getting rid of iTunes. now when I buy a movie on iTunes, I have it linked to my Movies Anywhere app, except for a couple studios, like I think Paramount doesn't link with it, but I wonder if A24 does and if this will transfer, which would be awesome. but still, this is frustrating and I totally understand people being disappointed, I'm hoping Ari or A24 comments on it. weird choice.
Dunno if I said this before but I love that the score throughout the film is mostly diegetic. I took one film class in college and that's the one term I still remember.
Wouldn’t the score being diegetic mean it’s taking place in the world of the film and the characters can hear it? Unless I’m totally misremembering, I feel like that’s not the case.
I don’t remember that being the case either, except for some of the noises that people made tying into the score and repeating. If only I could have seen the director’s cut to have it more fresh in my brain...
I’d say some parts of the score are like that, but not all of it. The May Queen scene has the men playing the music, the flutes that are playing when they first enter Hälsingland, and the more acapella parts are definitely there. IIRC there’s a bit of traditional score type leading up to them entering the commune. When the firefighters are moving through Dani’s parents house or on the road to the commune.
I just remember people chanting and playing instruments, and when they stopped abruptly, so did the music.
I had to find a clip on twitter to confirm and yup it’s there. Now I gotta go through frame by frame when this hits blu ray.
