@airik625 The boy was absolutely going to sacrifice himself if Dani hadn’t interferred. The Stone was already on his chest and the swinging was starting. The burning at the end confused me a bit in the DC because Connie’s wearing the same garb as the child who was going to get thrown into the lake. The May Queen feast has what appears to be an upper torso of a female human body on the table. Human like breasts, but an animal type face if I recall. You notice it on the overhead shots. I think you’re right with that being Connie. I already want to watch again
Saw it opening morning back in July by myself. Then I saw the DC on Friday night with a buddy who never saw it at all. Decided to go again Saturday by myself since I have A-List. Love this film so much, my second favorite movie of the year for sure.
But the way they were treating the whole spectacle - like it was almost theater. Joking about Mother Harga’s belly being full and everyone laughing. I don’t know. It just seemed like a completely different feel than the other rituals. This felt like staged “theater” - performed only for the guests. Pelle tells the group some of the events present “like theater”. Also with that scene, we now have a better idea what happened to Connie. She was sacrificed like they were going to that boy in the river. Going back to her screams, the ones we heard must have been from her being thrown into the river.
I agree with this - I got the impression that the night ritual would have played out the same way whether Dani stepped in or not. It felt scripted, very much like theater as you said. I also thought on my first viewing that the implied human meat at the table was Connie, but now I suppose it was Mark.
while I'm happy I can get this because I have a 4k Apple TV. this still sucks and I hope it's only a timed exclusive so everyone who wants it can get the whole thing in its glory. deserves a great physical release with awesome special features.
That’s hugely disappointing. I want a physical release to support, especially since I can’t make it to a showing. Also, was there more animal sacrifice in the new cut?
Interesting! I assumed based on the script people mentioned that more of that would make an appearance. Now I’m even more upset I can’t make it to a theater.
I... Think I might actually want to buy this at some point. Director's cut or not. Weird considering every time I see Hereditary at Target or something I immediately look away.
I couldn’t believe how many May Queens I saw all weekend. Only saw one Pelle and one Christian in the bear though. May have to make one of those a go to costume at some point.
