I know very little about this (it’s about a cult, right?) but I might check this out this weekend. Hope my anxiety doesn’t kill me.
Well, perhaps the worst movie going experience ever. Two assholes behind us wouldn’t shut the hell up and when my friend finally asked them to be quiet towards the end one of them told them to “Shut the fuck up.” Pretty upsetting, especially the post-credits confrontation. No idea what was going on the last twenty minutes. People suck.
Holy shit, I expect that at some major horror opening nights but like, what movie did they think they were walking into?
if i had one word to describe this it would probably be unforgiving. i think this is gonna sit with me for a while. this movie just helps reiterate why i love this genre so damn much
I went to see Child's Play last weekend at 10:30pm (last showing of the night) and the theater was basically shut down when I arrived. During the first 20 minutes of the movie, there was a row of teenagers in the very front all on their phones, filming the movie, snapchatting, taking pictures of each other. No one was at the theater to complain to, and I have A-List so I didn't care about getting a free ticket or my money back, but moral of the story is, people suck and this is why I watch stuff at home, or wait until a movies been out a few weeks.
ill try! i tend to just lurk that thread a ton. i literally exist in this world to consume horror movies lmao (and also horror video games tbh)
the only thing that really threw me off was how a celebration that happens every 90 years survives when elders are sacrificed at age 72. Florence carries this film. I felt a lot of the horror tropes coming, but the setting and subtle twists made it work. there were a decent amount of laughs in my theater? some were the whole crowd and semi-earned and/or uncomfortable reactions, most were from an older lady that was just cracking up.
A bunch of laughs in my theater too. Most were at the obviously intended parts (basically anything Mark said) but some where it was a little less clear what the audience was supposed to think, like the women interacting with and startling Christian while he impregnated Maja
i think i loved this, but i'm still not sure. planning to see it again on Sunday with some other friends. LOTS of uncomfortable laughter towards the end because it seemed like many audience members did not really know how to process what they were seeing.
Seeing this today. Don't know what to expect, but expecting to be shocked one way or another considering what you guys are saying.
Afterwards the guy was mouthing off about renting a private screening if we didn't want to hear talking or something, truly baffling self-centered assholery -- he was also one of those idiots that can't see nudity without making a fuss about it. There was actually a security guard coincidentally in there at that time, he told them to knock it off but told us he couldn't kick them out (???). After the post-credits confrontation, he tried to defuse everything and told us he'd go with us to get free passes. With my adrenaline running, my disappointment in everything, and just plain embarrassment I wanted to get the hell out of there, though.
Tried to illustrate my thoughts on this without breaking/pausing. Feel free to sound off and let me know if I went too far. No spoilers. A review of Midsommar (2019)
