Looks really cool. I'm super happy for Jonah, he seems like he's in a really good place right now judging from his Kimmel interview and this has been a passion project of his for a while

Jonah Hill showed up on the Chad Muska episode of Epicly Later'd, too. I'm not sure why I feel guarded about this, maybe it's just that skating means that much to me and I'm wary of someone co-opting the textures of skate videos and not being able to fully imbibe a movie with what makes skating special, maybe it's that Jonah was Instagramming with Harmony Korine and now this looks so derivative of Kids (though I'm trying to fight any trailer reaction, trailers are meaningless), maybe it's that Minding the Gap, a microbudget indie about skating, came out last year and, even though it was so small there's no reasonable expectation that a lot of people would be aware of it enough to go see it, it still means a lot to me and I feel the need to highlight it against the rising tide of this movie.

I dunno, I should trust A24.

 

I think there might be something about Jonah Hill's persona that's putting me off a tiny bit. His Instagram is basically a collection of him hanging out with people, like skaters and directors and rappers, that feels like a plea for credibility, a push back against his Hollywood image. But then again it's just Instagram it's not that serious he's probably a solid dude I should get over myself.

 

Looks decent, I'll check it out.

 

I found it funny that Jonah Hill was in the big brother documentary. He felt out of place

 

This looks good, though hearing the n-word shouted by a white teenager at a black security officer in the trailer threw me off-guard.

I miss funny Jonah, though. Oscar Jonah is kinda annoying.

 

Watching minding the gap on Hulu yesterday got me even more stoked for this.
