I enjoyed this a lot. It has its flaws but easy to overlook. Pattinson is always fun.

Loved this a LOT. Most fun I’ve had with a sci-fi movie in years. Maybe since like District 9??

Overall I liked it but the friend I went with didn't and I can totally see why. Some fun ideas, but messy, feels like some key bits are missing/left out, in the Kai character story especially. Starts strongly and gets worse as it goes along.

Yep, really loved this. Ruffalo’s whole thing was weird at first but I got over it. Him and Collette singing at the dinner table got a big laugh out of me. Pattinson is so good. Def my favorite of Bong’s English films.

  5. I wouldn’t necessarily be so bold as to assume Bong “forgot” about certain characters, even if I like the actors and would’ve been glad to see them utilized more. To me, the point of characters like Timo, Kai, and the recruiter only credited as “Red Hair”, is to show how many people in Mickey’s life position themselves as people who care about him, but in the end are revealed to be abusive and dismissive of his humanity and place in the world. The alluring woman with pleasantly aromatic hair doesn’t care that you’re whimpering at the gun she’s pressing to your head, because you signed the dotted line. The best friend that promised to grow wealthy with you finally got an inch ahead and is now leaving you to be eaten in an ice cave, prepared to saw you into 13 predetermined chunks at the mere thought that he might have to face consequences that are sure to find him regardless. A person that would happily send you to certain death unless you were willing to let them claim you as their own personal sex object. Everyone wants to know what dying feels like, but no one considers or cares that Mickey is just as afraid of it as they are. And then obviously this theme travels up the narrative to the carelessness of Kenneth/Ylfa with the Creepers. Devaluing whatever life they see below them, so invested in the propagation of the humankind that they’re willing to blindly send another, completely peaceful species to extinction.

Sorry for the word vomit, just been trying to work out my feelings on this. I think in exploring why this didn’t really work for me, I wound up liking it more lol. Not everything, but some of it is clicking a little better now

Kai only cared when it hurt her personally, her girlfriend dying and realizing Marshall didn't care if she was a lesbian he was gonna impregnate her anyway hit her like a ton of bricks

I wish they did delve more into how Dorothy could be part of the expendables program while having a heart and soul

Really liked this, this was a lot of fun. The capitalism criticisms isn’t as sharp as Boon’s other works but it still hits home, Robert was so damn good in this. I love that Ruffalo was like a classic ridiculous villain and I bet he had a lot of fun chewing the scenery playing that character. My only complaint is that the movie could’ve a little bit shorter but otherwise, I definitely recommend it.

I would be shocked if Marshall knew she was a lesbian. Unless he mentioned it when describing her genes and such. I could have missed that.

Of course not that's what makes it so funny that he's freaking out about Jen's death when she wouldn't be involved in his weird baby plan anyway

Watched Mickey 17 earlier and I really enjoyed it, Robert Pattison was brilliant but Naomi Ackie definitely stole the movie

This was fine? R Patz was great. Just kind of a mess that felt like 2 or 3 different films spliced together.

I liked it but there a bunch of ideas introduced that did not go far enough and kinda were dropped. If nothing else, I think the multiples concept needed way more conflict at the center

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

it bugs me a little bit that the idea that each Mickey has a completely different personality doesn't get introduced in the big exposition dump about the cloning process. like it's basically the central conflict of this movie but there's no setup for it before we meet 18 and just have to go with him being the opposite of 17

exactly how I felt, had a really good time in perhaps the first 2/3rds but it got worse as it went along. You could easily cut the Kai character, added nothing

I really enjoyed this and am surprised to see the discourse in here, and the relatively tame RT score. Felt like a crowd pleaser to me.

Ill read back and see what ya'll didnt like and see if i change my mind or reconsider anything, but i enjoyed it a lot in the immediate aftermath.

Pretty funny, i liked the narrative structure and pacing, and i felt it was philosophical but never went too wild or deep. Maybe it was too safe to some people?

Admittedly I am in politically deep red Oklahoma but this movie got basically zero response from people in the audience
