I was trying to think, but I really don’t think I’ve ever cried over a musician passing at all until today. And I honestly would not have expected to over MFD if you’d asked me a week ago if I thought I would
I wish I fucking knew he had his own thread on here before now The fact that he was already so elusive as is makes this really hard to accept as reality
Remember hearing that for the first time after it was used on GTA Chinatown Wars on the DS. Such a good track. That DoomStarks album will forever be on every fans wish list, even now. I wonder if it even existed. You just never knew with DOOM.
To me, DOOM is always going to represent the last era of mystery in music. Beyond an incredible run of classic albums and being one of the very, very best lyricists to ever live, he also had such a fully realized vision for himself. Just a beautiful artist, can’t believe this.
So is Madvilliany considered his best? I like MMM.. FOOD but I haven’t heard Operation Doomsday yet either.
Madvillainy is definitely his most widely known... I’m not sure I’d say it’s his best, but it’s up there.
I'd say Madvillainy and MMM FOOD are the ones I return to most often but I won't say those are his best.
Madvillainy and MM..FOOD should be your first port of call. Followed by Operation: Doomsday and DangerDoom. Then Born Like This, his stuff as King Geedorah & Viktor Vaughn and JJ DOOM. Then, if you like early 90s rap, check out his stuff with KMD.
Vaudeville Villain tends to fly under the radar but it's right up there with Madvillainy for me. just unreal production and rhyming.
This was his last full album if you count collabs, incredibly underrated (like Czarface is in general)
Czarface's style grew a bit thin for me after so many albums, but Every Hero Needs a Villain is still dope as fuck
Yeah they really killed those, posted that YouTube video of them all earlier in the thread. JD and DOMi are the future
