About 80% of my Youtube usage is just watching Kevin Devine live videos. The other 20% is probably Vic Berger videos.
Everything Is Beautiful & Nothing Hurts and The Cure For Pain are my two favourite songs from that album. I also like Silencer a fair amount. I just like watching mewithoutYou live though to be honest.
I'm just poking fun. I think I love it because that's the album they were touring for when I first heard/saw them. I still love it, but I could see if someone came in 5-10 years after it came out not being a big fan of it after hearing their better albums.
That's definitely true. I jumped onto the mewithoutYou bandwagon about six months before Catch For Us The Foxes came out so my first experience was Silencer and Gentleman.
Ha, what can I say? The man has the best videos. I've watched certain videos of "Redbird," "Brother's Blood," and "Carnival" countless times by this point. I'll get sucked in every few months. Same goes for Bazan, who also has some amazing performances on there.
saaame. love the video of them playing Redbird at SXSW as a three piece, that one's excellent. there's this one acoustic show he played where he plays Cotton Crush into Ballgame that is pretty perfect and I watch super often, I'll probably post it in the thread later if I remember. I'm on a mission to find the definitive live video of Bazan playing Second Best, lol. hard to find an old one in good quality but not a huge pool of more recent videos of that one (yet).
It's about 100 degrees on the heat index here, but I swear that there are guitar chords or drum beats or one line of a lyric that instantly gives me goosebumps and the chills all over my body and move me to tears. I've listened to these songs hundreds, if not thousands, of times and they hit me like a wave over and over again. I can't explain how important this band is. I'm so happy I've been listening to them for about half of my life and they're still as committed as ever to tour and make arguably their best music nearly 20 years in. I don't know what this means, but we're blessed to have them.
Wearing black canvas slippers And our frog-on-a-lily-pad pose We sewed buttons and zippers To Chinese pink silk and olive night clothes If you can someday stop by Somehow we'll show you the pictures And fix you some tea See, my dad's getting a bit older now And just unimaginably lonely

Great diversity from all the other albums - fantastic that they've included and thought about that as well. Edit: just realised there's nothing from Ten Stories.
I'll check this out this weekend. Hopefully the excitement will spur an announcement for the new album!
Well, I immediately caved and downloaded this today. Great performance. Sometimes I forget how much I love this album. I don't relate to it as much lyrically anymore, but it's so musically interesting and unique.
