I've been thinking about the Parahoy interview where they talked about the new record. How do you interpret when Rickie says "Aaron's taken a scream"? I feel like Aaron has screamed quite a bit on some of their older work. Even on Rainbow Signs there's the heavy bit that feels like a callback to some of the older screaming-style. I presume it will be a new style as he also stated that the album "covers new heavy territory I don’t think we’ve never been in". Anyway, I wonder what kind of new places these screaming vocals will take us. I'm still down for the trippy mewithoutYou. No idea what to expect there either!
That's one of the things I've been wondering about. I love when Aaron gets aggressive vocally though so I'm excited to find out.
I bet its so painful sitting on a finished record that you know is ready to be heard by the world but having to wait another 3-4 months bc of some vinyl factory.
I want it badly, but I love how they tease their new releases. Just little clips or videos, snippets of lyrics, etc...
this is a dumb af and probably obvious observation but i just realized today that brother sister starts and ends with the same line.
all circles presuppose they'll end where they begin, but only in their leaving can they ever come back round
One of my favourite things about that album. I love that Aaron uses the same lyrical themes throughout albums.
Aaron and Joanna Newsom have always reminded me a lot of each other as lyricists, and ‘Divers’ also played a similar trick. On that one, the first word of the album is “sending” and the last thing you hear on the final track (Time, as a Symptom) is the line “white star, white ship–nightjar, transmit, trans—“
i think it's just for the summer. someone on reddit said he's in seminary and here he says the season and needs of his family (while off of school for the summer). dom helped write the new record so i imagine he's still in the band but who knows.
He graduated seminary recently IIRC. Dunno if he has something else lined up and this is for the summer or if its for good
I feel like dom has so many other projects that it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t stay in mwY. He is a good bassist and seems like a cool guy. That said, if Greg is back for good that’s alright by me — he feels like part of the “classic era” lineup to me.
