I think this band has four great albums and a good one out of everything I've listened to. Really excited to see what they bring to the table on their new album. Brother, Sister > Foxes > Pale Horses > Ten Stories > AB Life
Someone on the mwY subreddit said they announced at the show last night that they recorded 19 new songs
I normally wouldn't be excited by the idea of a double album, but this is one of the few bands where I'd actually be pretty excited to hear one. Helps that Big KRIT's double LP from last year was so great.
Is Dominick still playing bass for them? I know he toured with Natalie Prass but wasn’t sure if he made it to these dates.
hey, those of you who are fans of Ten Stories and maybe to a lesser extent it's all crazy would find a lot to like in the new Hop Along album. the rhythms and lyrical feel in particular but also the lushness
This is a great catch. I love this album so much, too. Unsure if i like it more off the bat than Painted Shut (which is top 5 albums of the decade to me), but this one feels very dense so i think it’ll take some time to work through. I first learned about Hop Along when they opened for mwY on the CFUTF tour. They were incredible then. Hoping to see them on tour this summer.
forever sad I missed that ten year tour but it was nowhere near me it is actually v dense and it's part of why I'm so surprised at how quickly it's connecting with me and lots of others. lyrics still flying past my head at times cause I don't have them yet but excited to dig into those
I trust that they would only do it if the themes or narrative "required" a double album, not just because they "have a ton of songs" or however you want to describe it. Would be pretty amazing if they did it.
YES PLEASE! Edit: Apparently there will be a full #AlternativeFacts podcast episode containing that interview with Michael and Rickie.
Mazzotta: “We finished a banger with [producer] Will Yip. It bangs! I’m pretty hyped on it. It took a long time to make, too. It took over a year… It’s still not 100% done, I’m going back into the studio the week we get home.” M. Weiss: "It keeps getting heavier and heavier as things progress with it." Mazzotta: "It covers new heavy territory I don’t think we’ve never been in… [Frontman] Aaron [Weiss]'s taken a scream. And [there's] instrumental territory that’s trippy, weird, stuff we never would have dreamed of doing…Trippy in a heavy sense, and a chill sense. The summation of our whole career is on this, and then some."
Yeah that's what I'm most excited about. Trippy heavy and trippy chill. I think I'm about to trip into my two perfect trippy sound combinations.
It took over a year to make, so clearly they're taking their time and making the best possible album they can. Considering the quality of the albums they've put out when they weren't afforded that luxury, I think we're in for something special
