Judging by the Twitter posts whilst they were recording it, as well as the fact that the interview was with Dominic and Brandon (so a few different perspectives present from different eras of the band), I'd say there's a positive atmosphere across the band at the moment. They just seem to be enjoying being friends and being together in a band so even if some people are not as on board with not necessarily conforming to the LP model, I think it will be a different situation to It's All Crazy (where they were not getting on much at all and very close to being done). Still, no guarantees it will be a sound everyone enjoys... but I'm personally confident about that!
Are they using a van? I can't tell from the photos I've seen. They raised money for a new bus in 2016 after their last one finally gave up. Pretty annoying for them if they've already got a problem with the new vehicle.
just realized i typed "van" in my post instead of "bus" but yeah, their bus started billowing white smoke.
Made a last minute decision to see mewithoutYou last night (was unsure if I'd be able to make it), and I'm glad I did. Fantastic show, one of my favorite times I've seen them. Seeing [A-->B] Life live in concert was awesome because it led to more high energy moments, which I love to watch in spite of not participating. But, it was also great because the artistry of the album is a lot more obvious in that setting than on the album. As much as that batch of songs suffers from Aaron having not fully developed his lyrical style (which is a nice way of saying some of those lines are super gross and stalker-y, which works in context of their career as part of a character arc, but still, lol)... That album musically is such a jam. It's wild how close to their fully realized self they were at the beginning of their career. Also gotta say I liked getting there halfway through Pianos' set and wouldn't have minded getting there later. Live music is sweet, but I'm pretty content just punching in and out of a show for one band I love, lol. I guess I just feel older than I should in that setting. Oh well.
This sounds pretty great. I'm vocal about it's all crazy! being my least favorite by far, but it still has some nice songs; it's just too much for an album. Their couple albums since then are my favorites outside of Foxes in part due to the way what they developed then complimented their classic style. After last night's show, I'm all in for them pushing multiple aspects of their sound to the extreme at the same time, and then trying to assemble an album (or whatever it ends up being) out of all that.
The older I get, the less patience I have for sitting through opening bands' sets. I know it's good for smaller bands to get exposure and all that. Mostly I just hate standing for 4 straight hours to see one band I like.
For sure. I know that some people love the show experience and will rock out to bands they've never heard of, and that's awesome for both them and the bands they're giving a chance. But, like, that's not my thing, personally. I just wanna show up, enjoy a band I already love, and then bounce. (I know Pianos is popular around here, so someone will inevitably take issue with me being happy to miss their set, lol. I'm just largely content with my current listening and haven't had the desire to get into them. I can tell they're good, though.)
"fun" fact, I've been a Thrice fan since Illusion of Safety and have never seen them live. Now I don't really care that much any more :/
The mwY, Thrice, Brand New show was my first concert. It was a blast. You should check em out! mwY is the band I’ve easily seen the most times live
i liked foxing's live sets more when there was more energy, that was the show right after dealer was announced and they only played two new songs. they're a different band now and are great in a very different sort of way
I saw them in April and they went absolutely bonkers. Like I caught dude's guitar pic and that thing was SHREDDED. They're a different band live than on record, a band I prefer much more to be honest. (and that's coming from someone who adores Dealer.)
im not sure I've listened to the mwY record all the way thru more than a couple times but i love seeing em live enough to go. but pianos is the reason I'm driving 5 hours to do so.
