I thought they might have record it without anyone knowing and announced it suddenly but it's great to know they're recording now. Let the hype begin!
What new mystery is this? In overflowing emptiness The Invisible is seen among the shadows and the mist Before my doubting eyes the Infinite appears in time The Unquestionable is questioned but makes no reply this always gets me. im not sure why.
They had posted on Twitter that they were practicing for tour, and starting to get ideas going on a follow-up album.
I'm hoping for new mwY, new Hotelier, new 1975, new Copeland and new Busted next year. Gonna be so much better for me than this year.
i wonder how the next one will sound. i know the whole "the radiohead of x genre" gets tossed around a lot but mwY are really good at mixing things up album to album, either musically or lyrically or both, so going off the tweet where they said "yall are going to hate our next album" maybe theyre going into super weird territory. id like some electronic and synth heavy influence but i get that that would be a pretty jarring move.
I'd actually love that, haha. I want more of Aaron screaming like the chorus of Red Cow too. I still can't get enough of that song.
There have been two 'hints' on Twitter that could speak of the direction of the album (but might not be indicative of the overall sound at all!): The 'today' in the first Tweet was a reference to the solar eclipse.
Don't get me started on the "Red Cow" Audiotree performance. One of my favorite live performances of all-time. That mic change leading into the first chorus... Ugh.
at first i read your input as part of the lyrics because it rhymes; doesn't disrupt the flow much either haha
I think the reason that above line gets me is because Aaron just isn't afraid to flat out say he doubts his faith. Generally Christianity and it's adjacent tennants teach you to never doubt or question, all things are possible through God/Allah/The Christ etc but Aaron truly exemplifies all of the scriptures that Paul, Peter, and the other apostles wrote to other cities in their plea for humans to be meeker and honest and humble. Most modern churches take the blood of Christianity and replace it with kool aid to make it more appeasing to the masses. Aaron doesn't water anything down and the above line so perfectly sums that up, he has doubting eyes and is questioning God, who is referred to as The Unquestionable in the Old Testament a few times, even though he's getting no reply he's still steadfast yet never boastful. Aaron is also subtly hinting at something a lot of believers never quite grasp: the closer you get to the light the larger the shadow you cast. It's a "blessed backwardness" of becoming too committed to beliefs, which of course leads to harmful extreme interpretations such as Westboro Baptist and their kin. The reason I so often give my "favorite band" tag to this one is because, despite me not being a believer of anything really, I'm still so incredibly invested and comforted by Aaron's words and his brutal, uncomfortable, sometimes embarrassing honesty. It's beautiful
