I've never thought about the colors representing skin color, just the color of dying leaves, the passage of time, etc...
There are some songs I like significantly less than other songs of theirs, but definitely no songs I entirely dislike.
if i ranked all of their LP songs, "a stick, a carrot and string" would probably be last but i wouldn't say i dislike it
I'm going to say 'Fig With A Bellyache' although I do sometimes like it... I have to be in the right mood. The lyrics are ridiculous in places - crazy that there's something as crude yet brilliant and hard hitting as "the dog below our waist's aroused, as arms embraced the pretty gals. It came much more as a surprise, it happening while I hugged the guys." It's abrasive, but it's meant to be. So I accept that most of the time. But my main criticism is probably the overall sound of that track. I quite like the album but 'Fig' ends up a bit too 'carnival-esque' for me.
Until recently, I disliked a-b life. I relistened to it after the tour announcement though and goddamn I love this record now
be still child i like a-b life but that song always was my least favorite. maybe a little too grating for me, i don't know. but like it has been said before, least favorite isn't the same as dislike.
i just raked through all of their album songs and it was incredibly difficult to find something to mention at all
Fig With A Bellyache is the closest thing to a mwY song i dont like but oddly enough i like it much more in context of the album than just as a song if that makes sense.
I agree with "Fig with a Bellyache." Even with the (very) few mwY songs I'm less favorable toward I tend to like certain parts a lot, but even the parts of "Fig" I like I don't like all that much.
"Fig" isn't my favorite either. I've also found "East Enders Wives" to be relatively uninteresting in relation to other mwY songs. I mean, it's great musically, I just don't have strong feelings about it one way or another. I'm gonna get flack for this, but "Leaf" has never been my favorite. It's always been the clear weak point of Catch For Us the Foxes for me (when I say "weak" I'm grading on a curve of course).
That groove is freakin' sweet. I just feel like every other song on Catch For Us the Foxes has a big exclamation point on the end of them and "Leaf" has more of an authoritative period at the end (if that even makes sense). It definitely has its place on the album, it just isn't as powerful to me as the others. And notably less so.
I love Leaf. Went through a stage, probably sometime in 2005, when it was my favourite from the album.
"Leaf" is great. The outro bit totally rules and I love everything about how Aaron delivers the lyrics in the second verse. Also the end of that verse talking about the carnival game with the bottle neck and rubber ring sort of parallels "Fox's Dream" and the tiny balloons you throw darts at, which is something I just noticed.
i got really high once and cried to Four Word Letter (Pt. Two), specifically around the 2:30 mark when the guest vocalist comes in.
