A lot of potential things. Original destroyed, only one copy made, accidentally deleted, curropted files if digital, etc. If I had the money I’d be cool with dropping for a CD master quality. I don’t just buy the vinyl for sound quality.
I vividly remember thinking I could never come to NC again lol. I'll make the drive to another show sometime though, when they don't hit GA they almost always hit NC.
If you wanna start off heavier but accessible, I'd say catch for us the foxes. For more mellow (yet their best imo) I'd recommend the latest, pale horses. Someone more familiar with the rest should weigh in though.
agree with the sentiments of AB not being my favorite, but this was still a no brainer, especially with Pianos.
Brother, Sister first then Catch for Us the Foxes. If you want songs that tell a story, listen to Ten Stories. If you want something more similar to Brother, Sister listen to Pale Horses. If you want something harder than Brother, Sister listen to [A-->B] Life. If you want to listen to their NMH cover album, listen to It's All Crazy.
If you like good fuckin music listen to all of it. Best starting point is probably Brother, Sister since it prepares you for going backwards or forwards but I started in order with A-B life and I honestly think that makes an album like B,S more rewarding to listen to when you get to it
As others have stated, Brother Sister is probably the best jumping off point. After that I'd go with Catch For Us the Foxes and thennnn you can kind of go anywhere from there imo
Have I ever shared with this thread how I've never actually listened to the entirety of the cure for pain? My pirated copy of A-B cuts it off at like 4 min and for years after I thought it was on purpose as an artsy aesthetic choice and found out for a friend that it was not lol. And that's still the version I listen to
When I pirated it years ago somehow I got We Know Who Our Enemies Are from the INSIWB demo. I feel your pain @EmmanuelSCastle
I could legit write a thesis on every album they've released and why each one is essentially perfect, but I'll agree that Brother, Sister is where you should start. I'll never forget seeing them live the first time. They were touring for [A->B] Life and were wearing eskimo coats and Aaron was stationary for that song with his hands to the sky and Ricky was beating the shit out of the drums. My favorite concert experience.
I agree that Brother Sister is the logical place to start for newcomers but man, I am so pleased I got into this band at the beginning. It's been so good to follow them every step of the way.
In their defence, I've heard a lot of vinyl re-releases from around this time are from CDs - the problem is a lot of bands don't actually admit this and often market it suggesting otherwise. So although I understand the disappointment, I'd say fair play to them for not including the word 'remastered' and for answering openly and honestly.
well yeah, doesn't mean it's not worth it. things should not be pressed on CD masters, that's solely a cash grab and there is zero reason for that happen
Listening to their discography on vinyl and just now realized there's a new acoustic version on the B-side on the INSIWB reissue of We Know Who Our Enemies Are haha
I missed out on presale tickets what day do these bad boys actually go live that philly show is going to sell out in minutes
i think you're overestimating the draw of this tour. mwy won't sell out 1000 tickets in minutes anywhere in the world
personally id say start with CFUTF but i also like the more aggressive style they go for on that album mixed with hints of melody. B,S is probably the better starting point tbh.
