OLG got me into Circa, but all of their records are varying degrees of great so I'd recommend taking time to check out all of them.
I think On Letting Go is a great starting point. I think it does a good job at maintaining the odd prog structures and atmosphere of Juturna while showing hints at what's to come on Blue Sky Noise.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, since the response seems enthusiastic I'll just check it all out over the next few days
I think all of their records slay, I was just saying for that particular person descensus seemed most likely to be a record he would enjoy.
I think they've released four great albums (On Letting Go and Blue Sky Noise are particularly great), while Violent Waves is just good.
the thing about BSN is it's their most straightforward and least proggy, feels less aimless than the others (just my personal opinion)
yeah would say next year is likely, they'll probably do writing after the Circa tour. Wondering if they'll go with Will Yip again since they seem like the one band that's worked with him that might decide to work with someone else since they usually do things to make the process fresh for themselves also listened to Juturna yesterday, was cool for the most part. need to do a closer listen. did not expect his voice to be like that like all the time but alright
I really enjoyed reading All the Clever Words on Pages. I can't say it was quite what I expected it to be, but then I didn't have many expectations going into it. It's absolutely not an exhaustive, comprehensive biography on Aaron on the band; rather, it's a memoir of the author's experiences with severe physical disability, mental health struggles, relationship problems, and various incarnations of belief and doubt in God, and how his friendship with Aaron influenced him and guided him through the past ten years. It is very heavy on the religious aspect of both of their lives, but so is MewithoutYou's music, and I find it very interesting hearing about Aaron's progression in his faith. Going back through and listening to the band's discography with the book in mind, thinking about what was going in Aaron's life around each record and the degree or depth of his faith at the time, gave me an interesting outlook on their albums. I'd certainly recommend the book to any who cares deeply about the band, or is interested in religion and possibly carries doubts or may be questioning their beliefs, like I am.
Search for setlists: mewithoutyou | setlist.fm looks as varied as ever, plus mixing in I Never Said That I Was Brave songs.
Wow yeah, their setlist is super different night to night, never really realized that. Must be cool to be at a point where you just play so tight as a band that you can pretty much pick anything you want from your discography from night to night and know the entire band will nail it
