awesome. When he first came out on stage and pulled out his macbook, a lot of people in the crowd were asking "who is this guy?" and then when the first song started, Fall of Mr. Fifths, people looked at each other like "uhhh" and it took until the end of it before people were getting into it. mewithoutYou kept talking about him on stage, too, like how proud they were
Oh man, is he playing just Why? stuff? I'm so pissed I couldn't see this tour. He is an all-time favorite of mine, but I've never seen him or Why? or whatever. Super bummed.
I know for a fact he played Fall of Mr. Fifths and Good Friday. I'm not too familiar with his stuff, but there were about 5-6 other songs he played too.
Seeing them Wednesday if all goes well. Seeing Brand New the day before and gonna drive out of state for it, so it's gonna depend on some external factors like whether or not I can get a ride after my exam in psych class lol
also for those interested, one of the more recent episodes of Drunk History has a segment on Carrie Nation from Watermelon Ascot
B, S still exists so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ BUT I saw them tonight and Aaron changed the lyrics to a lot of songs to reflect his anger at the election, many of which were Pale Horses lines ("I tremble at the thought of what was once called democracy" sticks out in my mind). It was an especially heightened show in the aftermath of this mess, protests happening right down the street and all. I almost felt wrong for being at the show instead of at the protest, but. I needed it, tbh Rainbow Signs is definitely a top five mwY song though, goddamn what a closer. ALSO shout out to Aaron's Neutral Milk Hotel cover
Been seeing their posts on Facebook and twitter the last day or so. Did the show feel like everyone was there together? I'm surprised Aaron posted a status about it tbh
truthfully, not exactly. Like, once the music started, it was a great show like any great show, but in terms of the current events, it was a little unsettling. Aaron didn't talk about it at length because there wasn't time, but he felt like he needed to say some stuff briefly in the beginning, so he did and one guy interrupted him by yelling "America!" and that was a weird vibe just then. It was only for a moment and it in no way tarnishes my experience because it was completely forgotten when it really started, but it was just kind of sobering to realize people in attendance were eager for Trump's America. An out of place sentiment, it felt like. However, if you meant in terms of like emotional experience and the symbiotic relationship between the band and the audience, yeah, that was there once the music started. One definitely fed the other, there was very clearly nothing but good vibes in that department. Everyone was having a blast, and the crowd went nuts for the A to B stuff too.
it can be weird when you realize that people with a completely different sets of values or ideals or morals or whatevs, hold something close to their hearts, that you do to it's something amazing and unsettling and very real
Yeah, I guess that's true. It's weird because I struggled for a while as to whether or not to listen to artists with views I considered problematic, and it's interesting that that isn't necessarily something that goes both ways -- like if your views are the opposite of mine for example, I don't think you see things in terms of problematic or not, but more like "annoying or irritating or not." Or maybe the generalized you I've created in this scenario is more complex than that! who knows, that's just how it seems based on having these conversations in college atm. But anyway, it's weird to think where I would feel alienated in that person's position, they only (seemingly) felt mild irritation or smth
dope variants on that Never Said I Was Brave repress! i'm seeing KevDev on Sunday so i don't think i can afford the deluxe+t-shirt pack
Yeah, I grabbed the funfetti deluxe. No shirt tho. The design wasn't their typical aesthetic so i'll pass.
For some reason the notion struck me to listen to CFUTF, BS and PH back to back today. its interesting viewing those 3 albums almost like a trilogy, a continuous story watching the development of Aaron grow and mature while still grappling with the same themes. idk, just something cool that made me love this band and those albums even more.
I did similar, but replace BS with AB Life. BS comes later tonight to complete it all cause it's the faaaave
wait so is Yoni just rapping over Why? instrumentals or what? also anyone know what kind of merch he has on tour?
