oh let's go btw I have made a version of the Christmas album split up into separate songs and tagged if anyone wants that
Just imagining a Charlie Wagers designed tour poster with the title “‘we do not exist’ we faithfully insist” across the top.
In all likelihood, there’s rumours of a documentary featuring footage from Josh Bender who was their original manager and apparently filmed everything from the CFUTF and Brother, Sister era. There’s also definitely these final two shows which will come out in some shape or form. And we obviously have Live vol.3 which I imagine will be soon. How will they mark the 20th anniversary of Brother, Sister in September too?
Stranger things have happened. They did the farewell tour. I’m guessing they will do short runs if they come back.
Am I the only one who’s like they put all this emphasis on it being the last show, putting out live records, really made it seem like they are done only to play a show 3 years later seems little shitty? Like the last thing I want them to do is do something that will mess with the integrity of the legacy of this band. I know there is demand, but I don’t know
I’m thinking it’s just bait for releases of physical media. I don’t take it to mean live performances in 2026.
I think it’s a lot more likely that they aren’t playing shows this year than that the are. (And if they did, I think it’d be a festival or maybe a handful of scattered shows in the summer.) But, occasionally playing shows again someday is, I think, on the table. The end was always framed as the end of them as a full time band doing consecutive full album cycles, with Aaron saying at times he could see them still doing something eventually.
That said, if they decide to perform I’m in. I’ve lived too long to take any band 100% seriously whenever they say “we’re done” or whatever. In most cases, they return at some point.
Pretty certain there won’t be any live shows this year so don’t worry. They were pretty clear though that it was an ‘end’ rather than a break up and I love that they’ve been active with the live records, physical releases and now even new Christmas music as a complete surprise. Long may they continue in their own innovative and unique way. There’s no band like mewithoutYou and I love that.
I mean 80% of bands that came up at the time they did have done the same thing. I think the way bands market hiatus is silly, but Aaron said they will definitely come back to some capacity on pods when they were ending. I’m okay with MWY making a buck on the final run before doing other things for a while. What’s more surprising is when bands do a farewell tour and we don’t hear anything for longer than 6 years.
