Finally listening to Vol. 2. Amazing set. Pale into 9:27 is majestic as an opener. Come for the righteous tunes, stay for the V2 Engine banter. Echo everything @Serenity Now said. Magic stuff.
I don’t know what changed in me, but when Ten Stories came out it did nothing for me. Now it might be my favorite mwY record.
Wait this means Brother, Sister and Saosin Self-Titled were released on the same day. Talk about a monumental day for the scene.
They picked a good release day, Abbey Road was released this day in 1969 Brother Sister was my first introduction to mwy and I am forever grateful for that. I have such specific memories tied to that album in college
There's a sale going on at their store including a bunch of old CDs. That's cool when bands find stuff like this Sale
If I didn't have an awful mold allergy I'd probably pick one up lol Accordion case not for sale CDs may ship with varying degrees of damage and smell May contain mold Do not purchase if pregnant or think you may become pregnant
Yeah, that pregnancy warning is going to keep my wife and I away unfortunately. Neat for those who can pick one up, though!
Listening to Almquist on a podcast and he (finally) confirmed that there will be a final show video released at some point. It will be a different edit to the livestream and the reason it’s taken so long as there are so many mewithoutYou projects (assume the live albums) he’s working on concurrently.
Hopefully they announce a tour and album to celebrate the Farewell Show release. (I’ve been in denial for a long time that they’re done.)
Time for the Farewell Anniversary Tour!! /s But please mwY, if you're listening, I'd buy that ticket in a heartbeat.
I’d love for Aaron to feel comfortable doing some acoustic shows (maybe with his brother or someone else filling the sound out a bit) here and there. And maybe even put out a “solo” album. I understand it’s probably for the best for the machinery of the band to have come to an end. But, they seem to have ended on good terms, and Aaron has talked like he could see something else happening. So, like, idk, some kinda presence someday without a full time reunion or whatever would be cool.
Yeah, I remember a post-farewell podcast where he said something about writing acoustic songs with his wife? It would be cool if they ever get released.
Couldn't link to this earlier for some reason but for those who want to listen to the podcasts, part 1 is here and part 2 is here. It's actually predominately a podcast about Five Iron Frenzy, particularly the first half, but there's some really great detail about mewithoutYou vinyl and then the brief snippet about the final show(s) video. I actually love listening to Almquist talk - he seems so passionate and genuine about what he does. For me, his attention to detail, creativity and care for the experience made mewithoutYou (who already had the legendary music before he was manager) even more exemplary.
Beyond the time he was kinda a dick to me on twitter once, I’ve loved all the stuff he’s done for the band.
Mike and the bus driver are legends. It was truly a tribe. Those bus invader videos where he breaks down diesel engine care are GOATed.
I did this today for Thursday and I’ve seen mewithoutyou more than Thursday. No one asked for this but I’m bored and curious enough to try and find out, so here we go.
