Essentially, no two limbs play the same stroke at the same time, so, for example, it'd be like RLF (right, left, foot). You can start doing some really cool things with linear playing. My teacher always tells me that the reason we do rudiments all the time is so that I can build a strong foundation so that I could do a lot of cool stuff later. Ya gotta start somewhere. Once you start feeling comfortable with your rudiments you can just start going nuts because the sky's the limit.
Whole reason I left the northeast and moved back to my hometown in Florida for a bit. I can afford a house here without getting rejected because of my income. In Maryland not only were houses like 1500 a month to START, I got rejected from a lot of the ones my bassist and I could have been able to afford because our income wasn't 3 times the rent.
ever??? did they say something I missed about a hiatus? I thought things were going really well for them
Well, basically this year they visited the UK twice after 9 years away, and they posted this recently about the UK shows: A good while is likely to mean years, and bands don't last forever. Who knows whether I'd go see them if they did one day come over again.
Ah, okay. You're right, nothing is forever and what not. I hope your last show for a while is a good one, though
Thanks! There's been so many times I haven't realised that it was the last time I'd see a band, so I think assuming the worst for this show will make it all the more special!
I saw this before I saw them in Nottingham last Friday. I never thought I'd see them live again so twice in one year is a pretty good way to end if they don't make it back!
Twice this year and I'm seeing them again one last time tomorrow with Coheed and La Dispute before they go back to ignoring us.
Don't forget how Nine Stories is the eighth song on the album. I'm pretty sure that's all just the band's sense of humor coming through
I have a vague memory of an interview where someone asked Aaron why "Nine Stories" wasn't the ninth song on the album and while his literal answer was something like, "it's not 'stories' as in 'this is the ninth story,' it's stories as in 'this is the ninth story of the building;" it came across like the closest Aaron Weiss will ever come to telling someone to go fuck themselves.
Especially when the complaints don't really make sense like the Ten Stories one. All Circles isn't a story.
A buddy and I are going to road trip to Missouri for their show with Yoni Wolf of Why? If you haven't listened to Why?, do that immediately. The music isn't anything like mewithoutYou, but Yoni is easily my favorite lyricist outside of Aaron Weiss.
I've literally never heard of this Yoni person prior to this tour being announced but since then I have not seen any in between perspectives between loving and intensely disliking their work so i guess i should check that out huh
He's been in a lot of different projects and Why? is my favorite. I'd say check out the albums "Alopecia" and "Eskimo Snow" first, and then venture through the rest of their discography. cLOUDDEAD has an album called "Ten" that I absolutely love too. Or check out his podcast The Wandering Wolf. Aaron Weiss has been on two episodes. They're buddies now :)
Gonna check out the podcasts and then the albums you listed, I like to be somewhat acquainted with bands before i see them live. Thanks for the recs!
