Seems fitting to see this at the black cat knowing that one of the first times i drove to see them was at the same venue eons ago
The twisted contrast between the upbeat music and depressing lyrics of Winter Solstice is a perfect vibe for my day today Through the eyes of machines viewed immaculate scenes That had already passed me by All the stars on the ground, Noah’s ark in the clouds Set sail in the flood of my mind The other animals drowned in blasphemous towns And asked as they passed me by "Was to do as I please a European disease?"
My snapchat memories yesterday were from seeing them on the A-B Life tour 4 years ago and it made me so excited to see them again.
the european disease line is one of my favorites of his is that a reference or quote of something else or an aaron original?
I was listening to It’s All Crazy while I was washing dishes today and on the first song, my girlfriend said that it sounded like Alt-J and during the The Fox, Crow, Etc she said it sounded like folk punk. I can see where she’s coming from on both counts, but I had never thought those things. I’ve listened to them so much that I have certain ideas about them and it’s so interesting what an “outside perspective” notices.
I always think that the noisy outro to Allah, Allah, Allah sounds like something off of In The Aeroplane, so I can get behind this take.
Just realized that If I play my cards right, I’ll get to see them on this current tour 5 times. Just dumb luck. Already knocked out 3 shows. Two more lined up in Jan. Thanks business travel!
every class could just be a breakdown of one song’s lyrics and they’d cover the majority of philosophy.
Only tangentially related: each time i hear “and i feel fiiiine” coming out of the chorus, i imagine a trombone slide and then singing “and now we must pick up every piece …” and with mwY covering this song that impulse is even stronger. Lol
Really wish the band would postpone these dates, getting nervous about the Seattle show on the 16th given the high case count. Circa and MCS just pushed their tours back so maybe they will change their plans to go ahead with the tour. I can't imagine no one on the touring crew contracts covid either, considering how contagious omicron is even to vaccinated individuals.
It kind of feels like an impossible position to be in. Go ahead with the tour and risk the band/crew/fans getting sick, postpone or cancel the tour and put people out of work. Plus I have to imagine it’s even harder for MWY since they’ve already decided they want this to be their last year as an active band.
Totally. I just think it's inevitable they're going to get sick and covid is gonna force their hand either by being cautious or by getting sick while on tour. The opener already has covid and has to drop. It seems in that circumstance, postponing is the only feasible and safe option, even if it really sucks financially. I am not in their position and don't have all the info they have, but I can't see this working out.
I just tested positive on Tuesday, their show here is a week from then. would have been my first concert since lockdown. there’s still a chance I could test negative and double mask up for the show, not sure it’s worth the risk to myself or others, though.
The number of people selling tix because they have omicron/can't travel because of omicron is ridiculous, I wonder how well attended these shows will even be
