ahhh, mine actually got here today!! yeah, that was really awesome to see, back when it came out. love that mewithoutYou is Hayley's favorite band.
Mine arrived today!! No tracking info, apparently it was in Philadelphia awaiting a label all this time
my deluxe edition sounds so fucking good. i also bought one of the new pressings of the standard edition, the deluxe just sounds so much louder and clearer
At work (due to the remote working) we have to fill in this 'how are you feeling?' quiz each week but the last question is always random (to make you feel 'connected' to the workplace, obviously, haha). Last week was "do you prefer beaches or mountains?" This week: what song is guaranteed to make you feel happy? I've thrown In A Sweater Poorly Knit in as an obscure curveball for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully.
That's a good one to ease people into mwY. I tried to get my brother to listen to mewithoutYou years ago by introducing him to "Wolf Am I! (And Shadow)" and he was not having it, but when I turned on "In a Sweater Poorly Knit" he said, "Ooo. I like this."
Showed my dad Winter Solstice, The Dryness & The Rain and their Audiotree live session; showed mum East Enders Wives and slowly turning them both into fans
Ever since I got married I have been slowly introducing my wife (who does not like heavy music) to mwy, starting with the folk songs of It's All Crazy! and "In a Sweater", then onto [untitled] e.p. and the Pale Horses Appendix. When my Brother, Sister repress came in we sat down and she listened through it with me and said she really liked it. So basically my life is perfect now. (We'll see if we ever get to [Untitled] or Pale Horses)
This is the strange thing with mewithoutYou. I feel like if I started my parents at one extreme ("Another Head for Hydra") they'd hate it more than anything I listen to. But if I start them at another extreme ("The Fox & the Crow") and work my way up, I could see them eventually liking (and even loving) most of it. I love that about mwY.
Still so bummed I missed out on that Collector's Edition of Brother, Sister. Hoping they put some more copies up or they repress it.
My dad took me to see mewithoutYou back in 2005 because there was no train home and still to this day he occasionally sings to me “grape on the vine, grape on the vine” which makes me smile. That he would attend the gig with me so I could get home was one of the most generous and defining moments of my teenage years.
oh man, thanks for bringing this up, because it made me remember the time my dad dropped me off to see August Burns Red and I think he waited in the car in the parking lot the entire time.
My B/S deluxe came today and it's the colored variant instead of the black that I ordered. I'm ok with it though, just feel bad if someone out there got the black and is disappointed.
Sometimes I think the entire internet could burn down for all I care. Then stuff like this happens and I'm like, "Alright... I guess you can stick around a little longer."
