Ricky actually addresses that in the comments on Instagram: “We would have but the tickets would not be honored due to the way contracts work... it would have been a venue change and 5 hours of promotion essentially a whole different show. We are as bummed as some of you.” Damn, sounds like a shitty situation all around. I feel bad for the fans and the band members and specifically for whoever is sick, he/she must feel so guilty :(
Dustin is super super sick. I’m sad that it’s one less time I’ll get to see mewithoutYou because they already said they won’t be on the rescheduled date
This makes my fucked up stubhub order even more fucked. But at least i should be able to make the rescheduled show
unfortunately rickie has caught the bug too. they just played a very cool 4-piece set without him (including all three spider tracks from b,s, warming up for the anniversary tour) this has just made me more committed to seeing them every time they’re within a couple hours of me the rest of the year. extended to hopefully seeing whatever final show they do in philly what a special group
True. But Drug Church brought enough noise for both bands. The song below took the cake for me & their sound is not even my type of thing.
There were people with phones up but I wasn’t one of em. Too roped into the group sing along on tunes like Cardiff Giant. The more I think about it, the more I appreciated that set. It was not what I originally wanted going in, but turned into a special moment with such a good band of people.
pretty much where i’m at as well it also made me a little more committed to potentially going to the columbus date on wednesday, to hopefully see them at full-ish strength
idk if i was just super high but the (stripped down, again) set last night was fucking iconic wow they’re the best folk band on the planet
Talking to a friend who is a Christian and hadn’t heard mewithoutYou before. Even being a non-believer, these lyrics hit like a freight train. I feel like I’m overbearing talking to people about them because it’s all so deep and meaningful. I don’t think I’ll ever connect with an artist again like j have with these guys.
So wild, a different friend just messaged me out of the blue about how good Catch For Us The Foxes is, which is the album me and my other friend are talking about.
gotta keep gushing about last night: opening and closing with aaron doing king beetle and chapelcross solo respectively wowowow the crazy like ethereal ending to sweater i’m gonna be thinking about the version of julia they did (including aaron screams at the end!) for a long time
Question: if you ran into someone that said they listen to christian music and also grew up on bands like Metallica, what song would you choose to send them as an intro into mwY?
My older brother fits both of those categories, & the two albums of theirs he likes are Foxes & Brother, Sister. I think "Torches" & "January 1979" are his favorite songs? So, maybe just say Foxes as a whole, & tell 'em to at least get through the first couple songs.
"Bullet to Binary (pt. Two)" is way too underrated LETTUCE GROWS LETTUCE GROWS IN NEATLY SECTIONED BEDS N ROWS
I’d tell them “Pale Horses” as an album or just “Mexican War Streets” as a song suggestion I can’t even go into it all but I absolutely agree it’s underrated. That entire stanza is powerful: “Lettuce grows, lettuce grows In neatly sectioned beds and rows But one day asked the gardener To be moved to where the eggplant goes "Reason being, I must confess I adore her shining purple dress" As the eggplant listened in She wasn't offended but she wasn't impressed The potato called from underground "You've got it all turned upside down! Does the rain that sent each spring anew To fall on her not fall on you? You project on her your inward scene She's a blank external movie screen But the One who looks out from your eyes Looks through hers and looks through mine”
