This version of Winter Solstice is awesome, I wasn't expecting it to sound more uplifting, I thought it was going to be heavier.
Awesome, thanks! I had some weird error on a couple songs when unzipping the files and wanted to be sure it didn't mess anything up :)
I am liking it, but it's not nearly as loud or abrasive as it had been described, outside of a handful of spots. I'm getting a dark and ethereal vibe throughout the whole thing; like there's a ghost weaving throughout the whole album.
Yeah I have absolutely no clue what's going on in Matadors. That's where I'm at currently. Outro is awesome though.
"matadors" is a conversation between a fictional spanish king (ferdinand viii, a reference to golgol's diary of a madman i think, the titular character of which hallucinates that he is the king of spain) and a real queen of portugal, maria i, who went insane after her eldest son died idk what aaron's lyrics mean beyond that though lol
it’s still going to take a little bit of time to fully grow on me but I feel bad for anyone who isn’t immediately feeling this
That song feels like you're in a boxing match and the other guy has you up against the ropes. Hit after hit after hit and you just can't fall down. They just keep coming.
Mentioning a band a lot of people don't like to hear about New Wine, New Skins gives me mad Brand New vibes, particular the way the harmonies sound
Well, that was quite the journey. Not quite as crazy vocally as I was expecting, but it is a TENSE mood through a lot of the songs, even the ones that are more subdued. What a work of art. Also I can't remember the last time an album art fit the music as well as this does.
Worked at 4 and got about 3 listens in. I see elements of all thier work here but what stood out first was the tone/vibe reminding me of CFUTF.
Winter Solstice is way more upbeat and catchy than I expected. Like, the chorus sounds like it could be in That Thing You Do! haha
Julia might be my favorite song I've heard this year. It's like MWY playing a Balance and Composure song but making it their own? I dunno. The flow and vibe is very B&C. They also utilized a lot of muted screams like the end of Julia.
I still dont really like those 2 tracks a whole lot good thing I was vibing to the album last night tho
I caved and I'm listening now. Haven't seen anyone else mention the backing vocals in domouse, they're gorgeous. That's Michael's wife, right?
