I was gonna wait until I listened to the whole album to post, but I just shed tears of joy at that crescendo for "[dormouse sighs]" on my first listen Holy shit this is going to be an epic night
I really don’t know what to think about Michael. That was a lot to take in. The stretch of songs from 2,459 Miles to the end is easily one of the best in their career. This album is definitely not what I expected. I know I like it a lot but there’s a lot going on here and it’s gonna take a minute for it all to sink in. But it’s pretty, it’s ambitious, it’s vibey, it’s heavy, it’s pretty much got everything I was looking for. Basically I’m just real happy with this and I think I’ll hit play again rn.
Julia and Hydra are the most straightforward and immediate songs on the album I think. The rest of the album is very patient. They have better payoffs because of it but I think they picked the right singles for sure.
