The beginning of the song Naked and Red sounds so much like mwY to me and I love it. Colour Revolt is such an underrated band imo. I miss them so much. Been playing them a ton lately.
8 years playing guitars together Playing bars wherever Getting lost in bad weather Having nearly lost the fun You turned up "Born to run." Writing long postcards to mothers with sons in the ER Then I moved into the VR And somewhere, man in that passenger van is left your curse Because one man's limo is another man's hearse they were too good to last man
I’m thinking they’re talking about the other color revolt song that goes “hheeeaarrssee uuuuuhhuuuhhhh”
also that norma jean song got me feeling like a 2003 kid wearing my girl jeans at the local hxc show. fuck aaron weiss is soo good
did anyone ever go to purple door between like 04-08? norma jean (and the chariot) and mewithoutyou always played it and aaron always came out when they played memphis and the last year they were all there together, they closed with it and aaron came out but just kinda stood there and shrugged like he just had no motivation to contribute his verse. it was a cool moment and rather funny and at the time i was super bummed and just kinda thought maybe he forgot his own lyrics or something but now i look back and its like, he probably was just tired of doing it tbh
it was like a big christian music festival (a smaller, more alternative version of creation) with all sorts of bands. speaking of them just earlier, i saw colour revolt play there on the little tiny stage outside of the ski lodge. it was a strange mix of acts but i am forever grateful for it and the years that i went because it literally introduced me to mwy
Just listened to Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste for the first time in... uhhhh.... maybe 10 years? I really liked breakdowns back then.
Haven't listened to the Psalters in forever. They also provided backing vocals for the bit whilst Jeremy Enigk sings on O'Porcupine, didn't they? (No idea if that was specifically Scott Krueger though!)
