new wine, new skins (video started mid song. not sure if they played anything before this) bethlehem, wv julia august 6th (live debut) break on through pt 2 (maybe also live debut?) also, in the comments, mike said they're doing an in-store at waterloo records in austin
I was listening to White Pony and my Spotify was glitching switching between devices, so I listened to Passenger, and when it finished, Michael started playing. It actually kind of worked.
That's weird you say that; I had a dream mewithoutYou headlined a tour with Deftones opening for them last night.
Not them headlining, but can you imagine? If Basement can tour with Weezer and the Pixies I guess anything is possible.
they also opened with Winter Solstice into 2,459 Miles [Winter Solstice (live)>Winter Solsice (alt. version)>Winter Solstice]
Someone said they heard some Michael Stripe in Aaron’s vocal delivery on the LP version. Ever since then I’ve grown to like that version more & more.
Aaron joked about attempting to go into an acoustic Wendy & Betsy after 2,459 but couldn’t figure how how to play it right.
Such an awesome set. That was a lot of fun. I liked how right after they were done, Aaron is like, "what do we do now?", and then just started going in for hugs.
looks like they're doing another in-store in austin. on the live video someone suggested waterloo records and mike replied "waterloo is happening" but this page lists a different store. hope they do more in other cities
I was thinking about how these set lists have looked so incredible and how they're really good at mixing stuff up and then it dawned on me that they have about 100 or so original songs and outside of maybe 10 older songs or whatever, any combination of the other 90 would still be incredible. Like, there isn't a song they have that I dislike from [A->B] Life on, so pretty much every set list is going to be incredible to me. It's unreal how consistently great they've been for nearly 20 years.
Closed with Son of a Widow too. Not sure how rare that is but it felt rare. This was my second time seeing them, and i feel like they’re a band that’s always going to surprise and disappoint live at the same time. Don’t get me wrong, fantastic show and wouldn’t trade it for the world. But I feel like until I’ve seen them like 6 times there’s always gonna be SOMETHING I wish they played. I guess I’ll just have to keep going to their shows. What a terrible problem to have right???
Also why do people have to clap in time to 2459 Miles?? Just shut the fuck Up please I’m trying to have a moment
